Oil Brand/ Blend

My first service is due up soon and wondered what you guys with the newer trucks are running.

Synthetics? Diff weight than the 5W30? Ford recommends?

It's 5w-20.

So - Motocraft semi-syn 5w-20 and an MC FL820-S filter.

Won't do much, if any, better for the price (check Wally-World), or any price point, for that matter.

Follow yer owner's manual.

Walmart has MC Syn Blend 5w20, Atwood's has Phillips 66 Trop Artic Syn Blend 5w20 (same) and O'Reilly/Kragen Auto Parts has Kendall GT-1 Syn Blend (same) and Full Syn
5w20 (same as MC full syn).

Use MC or Purolator Pure One oil filter.

$20 Huh, You have a great deal. Wally World is $14.00 for 5 qt jug, 3.47 for the quart times 2 plus the filter for $3.69. I did my 1st oil change by me, 2nd for the truck over the weekend. For $20 I would not even think about crawling under it!

With the dealer using bulk oil and filter it's most likely costing him $16-$18 for supplies + 30 minutes labor on the oil change (LOF). Awesome deal...

Make sure you check the oil level after oil service from the dealer as they are known for only putting in 5 qts. of oil (standard LOF amount) + filter. I would always have to add an additional qt. after my LOF to bring it up to specs. Just something to look out for.

Yeah its a pretty good deal.. but its mostly because the owner of the dealer lives 2 houses down from my parents. Ha. Im one of those people that sits in the garage and watches them do it. I used to work in a Discount Tire when i was in high school and I know how kids are. I make sure they fill it, crank it and let it idle, then check the level myself. I also make sure they dont over tighten the filter with those darn filter wrench things(grow some muscle kids). I guess you could say Im a bit of a ***** at the shop.

Just change it thats the most important thing to do you will hear 1000 different opinons and a lot of them are valid. I have had excellent results with Mobile one I have a 2001 Lightning with 145000 on it and heavley modified only Mobile one and there filter, its been driven very very hard. I have a 2002 lightning with 86k same thing and I have a 2010 P with 31K on it and I drive it like I stole it no problems but the best test is the Yamaha FJ 1100 with 90 K on it and last year it still passed the factory leakdown check on all cyl it runs as strong as the day i bought it. results count and these are results. Most important is to change it .

Word.

No Fram either.

My BMW called for synthetic...so I used synthetic...my euro TDCI called for blend, so I used blend. This is not complicated and sometimes there are real reasons for a blend over synthetic such as the case with my old TDCI engine.

Walmart does make this easy; you can usually find both motorcraft oil and filter there.
