my light project

ok so i just order HIDS 5mins ago for my 2011 5.0 screw. on top of that i also ordered LED strips for bed lights since i have recently blacked out the 3rd brake light the bed gets almost zero light i am planning on putting the led strips under the bed rails hope fully at an angle which it light the bed very well i hope to do a write up on the bed lights to see how all that work. i have to wait for them to arrive but will keep yall updated

one question i do have is anyone have a good idea how to run wires from the cab back to the bed?? and make it look factory?

here's an idea for ya and it's what i done on my truck..we had a couple extra led undercar tubes (the long ones) laying around the shop so i mounted them under the bed rails..i then wired them up to a couple of pin switches (like the ones that come with alarm systems)..i have it set up so when i open the tailgate the lights come on and when i close it they go off..i don't have any pics of the install but i do have a shot with the lights on..i don't have the cover on there anymore and it's not quite that dirty anymore!!!haha

I posted a written "How to" on the other forum with pictures. It might be helpful but I'm unable to link directly from this site to that one. Search for "Recon Bed Light Install Guidelines". I wired directly into the cargo light, which I think is ideal but others have used magnet switches on the tailgate or hardwired their own switch for the lights.

I have bed lights wired up in my 05...very easy to do and work great for hunting/camping/fishing and looking for tools etc in the bed.

I have the Surface Mount LED bars from Oznium.com, 2 on each side with a switch in he dash. Some people wire up a dead mans switch on the tailgate (pressure switch) so when the tailgate is dropped they illuminate.

Nice. I'll be doing this as soon as I get a spray-on bed liner installed.
