I'll bite, but only if I get to lay down the wax. Oh... and I promise it won't redden your skin after I'm done. My DA is very smooth and easy on the finish.

No need for apologies. We were both just having a little fun.

No I don't have any pics of myself here. In fact now that I think of it I don't have many pics of myself period.... I might be able to dig some up though if you really want to see my mug. Check my album, that's my ugly mug on the right.

It is just a bit OCD, I know

I had great results with meg's consumer 3 step system (clay, cleaner-1, polish-2, wax-3) in the past if anyone is interested in products that are readily available and produce excellent results.
Same here. Meguiars Pro for all my wax. I use a Porter Cable random orbital buffer. I use their cleaner wax, then polish, then finish with about 2 coats of NXT. Its clayed before any of that though. We have a local auto parts store here that sells Meguiars' pro stuff. All of my towels are bought from Pakshack.com.

Keep an eye out guys for Megs new wax/sealant, soon to hit the shelves as a new product for 2011. It's called Ultimate Wax not to be confused with Ultimate Quik Wax and it comes in paste and liquid. Over at meguiars it's being touted as their longest lasting LSP to date and it's being set up as part of their consumer line which means it should be easy to find at retail stores everywhere.

I'll try to get together a list of what I do and what I use. It's about a 10 step process with the meg's pro products. I know mine is not an 09-11 guys, but here is some of my results with various processes..

Here is my results with the meguiers consumer 3 step process (wash, clay, cleaner, polish, wax; all by hand):

Here is the results with my meg's 8-10 step process using a DA:

This show had ****-poor lighting, sorry..

Here is the underside detailed from last summer, you can see in the second pick I missed some things, which drives me nuts!

I normally do one detail in late february/early march for show season/summer, then another detail in september/october where I strip it all off and do it all over again to get ready for winter.

That all depends on how good you are, how bad (deep) the orange peel is, and most, upmost, importantly how much clear you have to work with. As a general rule, but not always carved in stone, the answer is no...a factory paint/clear job does not have enough to start sanding and then polishing on.

birdshooter...

Have you used the Midnight Sun over your Wet Diamond yet??

I'm on a kick to try something new this spring. I'll do my normal prep work and will be using Wet Diamond for sure as my sealant. But I'm also in the mood to try a new (most likely carnuba) LSP on top. My choices thus far are...

--Mothers Carnuba (my current favorite, so may see how it does on top)
--Pinnacle Signature Series II
--BlackFire Midnight Sun
--AutoGlym HD

I ruled out the Pinnacle Souveran mostly due to it being taunted as a "show car" product with less than stellar durability. Heard it's completely awesome though!

Anybody (or any product) that promises you to simply "wipe on & wipe off for a brand new finish" is full of crap. And if it does look brand new after wiping it on and off, it won't last at all.

Yea, I used to slap on a coat of whatever "wax" somebody was hawking and think it looked pretty good. After spending a few years learning real detailing, I get far better results. People still ask me what kind of wax I use, but it's no longer the wax.

I very much agree with this. I used to think the same thing too. Wax made it shine. Which some waxes do contain a polishing and/or cleaner in them these days, but nothing beats the 3 step process of waxing. All wax does, or is suppose to do, is protect your finish. A cleaner, well cleans, and of course a polish is going to polish. The wax step is a very important step as well because it seals and protects all that hard work you just did. And the next time you wash your truck its going to look the same as it did when you waxed it.

As mentioned the orange peel is irritating, but I tend to just live with it. Luckily I had the whole truck repainted after a hail storm this fall and now the orange peel is next to unnoticeable thanks to the bodyshop. Had I shelled out more $$$ I'm sure it could have been perfect, but overall I'm happy. Really looking forward to this springs detail to show the results of the new paint.

When I detail a car I want several things: depth, the look of being 'wet', shine, smoothness and durability/longevity of the detail job. I could never own a white vehicle cause you just can't get several of those things from white paint. I think my EB will be either race red or blue flame, both would look amazing fully detailed!
