20" Chrome Wheels. Opinions, please.

I have never liked the 20" Chrome Wheels that you can upgrade to with the Chrome Package. I tought they have way too much bling, and look kind of like crumpled up tin foil. I liked the 20" painted aluminum wheels better.... well, I maybe...

I just looked at a loaded Lariat with the Chrome Package. It had the upgraded 20" wheels. It really looked great. It actually surprised me. I intend on added BFG T/A's before delivery, so it may look even better. I like the Lariat Chrome Package grille, handle straps, tow hooks, etc., but by the time you add in the $995 chrome 20's with a $1,495 Chrome Package, I might as well step up to the King Ranch. I'm just wondering if the 20" chrome wheel opinion has changed here on the board, or if they still are looked down upon.

Are you talking about these? This is all google turned up..

If so, I'd pass on them personally; but if you like them that is all that matters

I have the chrome package on my 2010 Lariat. I absolutely hate the 20" faux chrome wheels. I only took it because I wanted a silver 4 door screw with black leather and it was the only one around when I bought the truck.

Everybody I talk to likes the way it looks. They think I am nuts for wanting to dechrome.

I have never liked the idea of a Chrome Clad wheel ,but if you live in the snow belt area-where salt is put on the road they will outlast your painted alluminum wheel.

JMO, but I love chrome on a wheel. I never thought it cheapened the look nor did I ever know others viewed chrome as such a disease. But it's your choice as long as you like it!

He is talking about the OE option which is a Chrome piece of plastic bonded to an alluminum wheel. That is why some people do not like the idea of it.

All that matter is what you like.

If you go by the forums, you'll end up with 15" steel wheels and a 300 I6.

I agree with what PK said. Buy what you need, buy what works for you!

People on the forum have put on so many ugly aftermarket wheels I wouldn't care what they thought.

I love chrome, so that is a dead issue. The real question was about the 20" optional chromes shown by FX4life. I agree with PowerKid that the board would go with steel wheels as the popular style, but I need a bit more, and I am wondering if the optional 20" chromes reek a little too much "Escalade".

I like them on mine and so far have held up well to WI winters. They also are the easiest wheel I have ever cleaned which is nice.

Same here. Can't believe how easy they are to clean. They look as good or better than any aftermarket chrome I've seen. I'm not into all those wild blades or whatever you call them either.

Truck shoppin' again are we? For what it's worth, the picture that FX4life turned up with Google ... No, I'm not crazy about them .... a little too blingy and smooth at the same time. I do like chrome though. Might grow on me on the right truck in time, one never knows. I'll bet they are about the easiest wheels to clean and keep clean though ..... life with them might change my mind on the right truck. Already they're looking better on that truck, it's not a bad look at all. But hey .... that's just me.

But I thought you were "down on 20s" in any case? Seems like just yesterday you were arguing the merits of 17s or 18s over 20s?

I think the '09 + 20's look real good. I know if I was in the boat to purchase a new Lariat I would definitly get the chrome 20's. IMO.

Yeah, they are growing on me a little each time I look at that red one up above.

Wouldn't look so good on mine with the trim, but that all red Screw ...
... it's a shiney truck.
