Just walk into the dealer and tell them that you want Blue book value for your trade and invoice minus all incentives. If you feel really brave tell them you want the holdback as well. With the deal you got on the XLT the first time around you should be able to come out ahead.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Why not a 2011? Where do you live? Is this the same dealer where you bought the XLT?

I live in Texas. I'm looking at a truck from the same dealer I purchased it from. They offered 20,500 on my truck. My truck is a 2010 XLT screw 4.6L, 2WD, chrome, tow, convenience, sync packages. Only 6060 miles. Thats the "lowest they can go". And he's offering a 2011 version of my truck( only it's 4x4, 5.0L) for 30K.

Also I looked on kellybluebook again, and re-entered my trucks stats, and it said if it is certified and in "excellent" condition, it's worth around 28K

Dealers around here that give Kelly trade-in are few & far between. If you paid 22 out the door 20,500 ain't bad. Good luck.

Yep,
My experience is assume KBB "good" condition price for a trade-in. Even if you just bought it and returned the next day they only offer "good condition" price. They say that's all wholesale will offer. Sometimes it's best just to go with that because putting it up for sale, dealing with yahoo's showing up to your house joyriding, buyers with no money, etc... it's just easier to eat some of the money and do the transaction that day.

Yep, I learned Excellent is only 3 month old like new vehicles. everyone else is good trade in value. My 2010 FX4 KKBs at 25k. That deal looks fair. I would easily expect 10k to step into a new 4wd.

Dealers don't use KBB to value tradeins. They use NADA Black along with current auction sheets.

But since the general public doesn't have access to those sources KBB is as close as we can get. I have used KBB trade in estimator on my last 4 deals and it was always within 500 bucks when I compared dealer offers to KKB trade in good condition estimates.

It's because resale values are holding so strong on used. They would rather hold on to it and get the odd sale, and wait till the values drop.
