How would you know? How many have you driven? Motor Trend got 22.8 with grades, stops and some traffic. That was with the AC on and without hyper-miling. This thing will get 25 hwy easily with some break-in. It says right on the 4x4 window sticker most drivers will see up to 25 mpg hwy.

I'll get a chance today - my eco-boost drive is this afternoon... But in my experience, I never expect to get better than the mileage sticker... Unless you drive like the proverbial grandma and drive under the speed limit on the freeway...

Motor trend may have gotten 22.8, in real driving, but there is a big gap between 22 and 25mpg. And how really hyper-mile's in day to day driving? Maybe 1% of drivers, if that....

But who knows, maybe I'll come back this afternoon saying I got 28mpg on my ecoboost test drive...

Your results may vary, but MT said in their test they weren't doing anything special and they got 22.8 mixed driving. Which is better than the sticker. 22.8 is not a big gap to 25 specially when they weren't even trying hard or in optimal conditions - stop and go, some cruising, some hills. To get to 25 on the hwy is just 2 mpg more.

Also, see this post here....
"When I drove the ecoboost around town. (Crew cab FX4, 3.73, fully loaded with 3 large men) I was getting 19.2mpg. The sales guy that is driving it across the country to all the different dealers for test drives said he gets about 24mpg doing 70mph."

Using those numbers...
24mpg at 70mph x 36g = "only" 864 miles +/-

Unfortunately, those numbers are from the trip computor. The numbers from my 2010 3V 4.6L were from the odometer and the gas pump. The odometer actually reads slightly low with the larger tires.

I agree. If you removed the engine column from the chart and just showed the performance factors no one would be complaining about the ecobost's MPG.

It sure is when you will only be getting 17-18 at best at 70 MPH+ on the freeway. If you drive 48 MPH like they do in the highway tests you could get close to 21 but I doubt it.

Considering the Ford tards who delivered these trucks for the test drives were spouting off some unrealistic figures of 24 MPG Freeway at 70MPH then yes, very poor and very dissapointing.

WOW, did you even read what you wrote? First of all they have changed the EPA ratings based on how people acutally drive, you know 70 on the highway, 45 in traffic with stop and go's, back in 2008 I believe. Not 100% certain on when but I can find the exact date they started the new EPA ratings.

Here you go found a reputable site to explain it to you. Take some time and read a bit.
http://www.edmunds.com/fuel-economy/...y-ratings.html

Second, there are a ton of people on this site that have all driven this truck. I drove this ecoboost for an hour with 30 mins on the highway and got 24 average MPG's and as much as 28 when going down hill in a Screw 4X4 Lariat. In the city I got an average 18 MPG's for my 30 mins of driving, when the entire hour was done I got 20.9 AVG MPG's for this truck. If you don't like the Eco fine don't buy it, but don't bash a vehicle based on what you 'think' it will do MPG wise.

And just to have a little fun the window sticker on the 5.0 says 16/19 and I got 16 city and 22 on the highway in a 4X2 Screw Platinum.

These EcoBoost post get funny. I believe that although the Eco has been designed with fuel economy in mind, the majority of the emphasis was on power, if not having power while maintaining a "better" fuel economy than previously available. From I read, the Eco even beats the massive 6.2L beast out of the hole before the 6.2L takes over down the road. Pretty impressive for a 6 cylinder - even if it's turbocharged - twice.

The point is that someone has an option to buy more of a "fuel mizer" engine (can I use that phrase with a 5,500 pound truck?) that will most likely yeild better mpg's for everyday driving (and while towing), AND still kick the snot out of anything else currently available (that offers power and mpg in the same package) while pulling a sizeable load. Until now, the philosophy of geting good mileage and being able to tow a sizeable load with generous power and ease has not been really possible. The EcoBoost offers just that... both sides of the coin with little compromise on either side for a vehicle that weighs close to 6K and tows close to double.

Don't you dare bring logic into the EB discussions. All that matters is that it's "not a V8" and "there are more parts to break" and "it's only 1 extra mpg according to the sticker". LOL

<-- buying an EB soon.

We haven't seen diddly. No one here owns one. It's all speculation at this point.

Nice try, come again.

If the F150 doesn't get 40 mpg it has poor fuel economy.
