2011 is a Hard Sell

You know the 2011 F150 might have a better engine lineup but when you can buy a new 2010 XLT Supercrew for $25,000 its got to make them a hard sell.

Doesn't make it too hard for me, I have zero interest in ever owning an XLT or Lariat for that matter I'm looking 2011 FX4 or Platinum!

What is an otherwise similarly equipped 2011 model selling for?

For me, I am only considering a 2011+ F-150. I had no interest in the 04-08, 09 had the 6-spd trans, 10 got the extra payload with max tow package, 11 Ecoboost. At any price, 04-10 are not enough of an upgrade [b]for me[/url] at any cost. I don't know if the 2011 model is enough for what I want to upgrade, but a 2010 XLT Screw is only worth what I can sell it for.

MSRP $36,195 (Assuming 5.0L is similar to 5.4L)

2011 $29,695 (Assuming $3,500 in Rebates and $3,000 in Dealer Discount),

Roughly $5,000 higher (The 2010 wasnt exactly $25,000).

The fiance told me my 2008 XL Supercrew that I bought before we met was the nicest truck I will ever own. I'll be owning it for a long time.

I'm not rich, nor are most truck buyers, but not everyone is willing to sacrifice performance and capability to save a couple thousand bucks.

For me, the 2010 isn't even an option. No way in hell I'd buy the "old" technology when there are three engines that will walk all over the always weak 5.4 and will achieve better mileage while doing so (2 will anyways). Claim it's proven, whatever. It's proven to be lesser than the new truck is all.

And, in my opinion, the money you save at the time of purchase... you'll lose when it comes time to sell. Yeah, you might pay a few thousand less now, but what happens in a few years when you get ready to sell? The newer truck will have a better resale value, barring some sort of debacle like we saw with the 6.0 Powerstroke.

x2. One of the most exciting things I like about the new trucks is the engines alone. There is no way in hell I'd buy a 2010 with the old engines.

I just lucked out on my '11 purchase. I went in to trade the wifes '02 Stang GT that was starting to show some age and ended up with a '11 Fusion with 45% off the MSRP after discount, rebates and trade-in.

I asked the salesman to run the numbers on a reg cab '11 STX with the 3.7L that I had test driven. He came back with 1K off MSRP and 1K over pay off on my '07 STX. I told him I would just keep the '07 because I needed the room for my 3 yr old Grand-daughter's car seat. The Sales Mgr came over and asked me to consider the '11 STX SuperCab out front. He said he would make me a stupid deal I couldn't refuse just to sell the first '11 F150 on the lot. They are a volume dealer and he did make a stupid deal I couldn't refuse. He gave me $3016 off the MSRP, a $2500 rebate that I don't think exists and $2500 over my trade payoff. That is a total of 8K and some change off of a Brand New '11 STX 5.0L SuperCab that is nicely equipped.

I only hope there are other deals like that out there. It did help that they knew I once sold vehicles for their competition and that it was 7 PM on 12/30/10.
