I figured...

I can't tell if there is any gain. My truck is new and I'm easy on it.

But... Apparently it is giving me a slight increase in MPG.

And it makes a nice throaty sound when your into the throttle a bit.

I could be crazy, but I think it made my exhaust louder...?

Anyone else experience that?

I almost want to reinstall the snorkel to verify that..

Truck is new, so maybe I just never noticed it.

I think what you are hearing is the increase in intake noise. Not a louder exhaust note. That's the way it seems with mine after the mod.

Did mine, but didn't notice anything different in mileage or power.

So is the jury still out on the Gotts mod then for the 2010 model? I understand that it is cheap, but does it even really make any sense to do it in my ride. I keep going back and forth everyday...

I've had it done for a few weeks now.

All seems fine.

I've kept an eye on my air box and it doesn't seem to be getting dirty..

and my filter stays dry in the rain...

I think this is pretty much a sound mod..

There are proof on gains with a custom tune, but nothing is really noticable running stock..

Give it a try man..

i did my 07 and like i have said think i got a little throttle response and not much more
with that being said i got new exhaust & k&n drop in and then i saw 2 to 3 mpg difference but the gain of milage could have Bean a combo of things added.

now do the math if you open up the air box buy going from a 1.25"=3.175 cm hole to a
2"=5.08 cm now you have increased the air volume buy almost 8 CFM of in take air.

now how do you expel said air? can stock components handle it? did you over force air in i say no you cant get to much air in it will only take what it takes but can you over load the mass air flow sensor? seen as it is always adjusting and reading i would say now. so is it a good mod thats up to you. hope this info my little mind has give you will help in some way

Did the mod' a couple of weeks ago. Personal experience ( 4.6 3v ) .....
  • increased throttle response.
  • nice throating acceleration growl.
  • +2 MPG
  • increased SOTP ( SeatOfThePants ) performance. *Non-quantitative.
Staying with it.

BTW ... My mod' to the mod' - tucked the inner fender shield ( rubber ) around the outside edge of the airbox opening, creating a funnel.
