....after only two months of ownership, I'm already getting idiots opening their doors on my truck in my business parking lot. I've found several places just in the past three days.

Now, I have no real option for parking in an isolated area. It's a VA Hospital, and the parking lot is always full to overflowing. Believe me, if I find an end slot, I'll take it, but that's very rare. It's usually smack-dab between two other vehicles.

So....what that leaves me are the options of either 1) watching the parking lot with binoculars for said offenders; 2) don't worry about it (which is NOT an option); or 3) acquire and put on protective body-side molding. Ugh.

Opinions welcomed, and if anyone has applied/installed this type molding, what type/size, and from where? I'd prefer the pre-measured type (if that's an option) with the ends already beveled/shaped.

na, actually you can get door bumper guards. The trick is placing them right. Too high and a small civic will nail the door below the guard, too high and a truck will hit above. Just put it at the elevation where you see the most dents.

OR just lift your truck and get running boards! My friend did that. his running boards now have dents, but his truck quit getting beat up

Train a pit bull to sit in your truck bed and attack whoever lets there doors hit your truck. You work at a hospital so if they get bit boom they are right there for attention!

 

If you do not have running boards/side rails, they help a lot, and are at least functional.

 

x-3 running boards and a lift even then somebody will get ya.

The molding on the picture is precisely where I'm getting the dings from opening doors. I must say - if I'm going to spoil the asthetics of the truck with molding, this is the product I'm interested in, particularly since it's painted to match (hopefully).

I didn't see a price list/guide for these moldings; I suppose I'm going to have to call their contact number. Have any idea of the cost?

FYI: I do have running boards, though the truck is not lifted. As noted from the picture provided, the people opening the doors are dinging the area well above the boards, and right at the location of the molding in the picture.

Again...appreciate the help and assistance!

 

I really love that idea. However, my facility doesn't have a trauma unit, so the culprit would likely bleed out before the ambulance arrived. Oh....wait....hmmmm.....

I park in a lot filled to capacity daily but people don't come and go all day long. However, I think my trailer tow mirrors help prevent dings. They stick out and folks tend to avoid getting too close to them. I've had my truck six months now.

 

I know how you feel. I live in an area where denting people's cars seems to be a sport. I can't understand how so many people just don't seem to care.

The first time you wax a new vehicle can be pretty bittersweet . . . that's sometimes when you discover your first ding . . . .

The parking at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor sux, too. They added more parking spaces by making the existing parking spaces smaller.

 

i feel the small spot pain where i live i can almost get all 4 tires on the lines so i have to park else where and walk a bit more
