Help - Dead Battery - door lock broken
Hi everyone,
Hoping someone will have a solution/recommendation for this.
My battery died somehow on my 2010 XLT/XTR :-(
Now that wouldn't be so bad except my key doesn't work in the lock either.
Someone tried to pry the handle a couple of months ago and the key has been flaky ever since.
Is the lock cylinder actually mechanically connected to the lock?
Or is it just an electrical "switch" that unlocks the locks.
I figure I have to find someplace I can hook up power to externally so that I can at least unlock the doors and pop the hood or open the hood somehow without getting inside.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Dave

As long as the flat battery was not caused by you then it should be covered under warranty. They will come out and sort it with road side assistance.

Well if there is a chance Ford might charge me, because the kids left a light on then I think I will call AMA instead.
Allright, so the consensus seems to be to call.
But is there really no way to get in to the truck?
What about my question about whether the key lock is actually mechanical, does anyone know?
I know we have some kind of road side assistance but the details are locked in the glovebox. :-)

Is it common for that rod to come unhooked when someone pries up the bezel to try and pop it?
If there is no power point accessible from the factory I think I will run one just in case this happens again.
