2010 FX4 S/C first oil change

Well, its that time, I have 3,500 miles on my beautiful new truck and I'm changing the oil in it for the 1st time.

I picked up 7 QTS of Mobil1 5W20 fully synthetic and a extra guard filter. The filter alone costs $10. If there's any zerts under the front Ill hit those with my lithium filled grease gun.

Anything else I should look for? Im hoping to get a few more miles to a full tank switching to full synthetic from the factory fill.

I also bought one of those fancy car wash brooms that hook up to your hose if you want. It also extends and retracts.

Im so short I wish I would have paid extra for the step bars. theres no way i could reach the windshield without it

Take the Fram, throw it away and get a Motorcraft FL820-S. The Frams suck. Bad anti-drainback valves. I also see no reason to use anything but the MC 5w20 synthetic blend. It works quite well. No reason to spend a lot of money for stuff that is really no better.

BTW Tom, take that oil back too - See posts # 4 & 11 & 20 in this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/v8...ing-lucas.html.

The best oil and filter for yer truck is just a trip to Wallymart away ....just can't beat the MC stuff ...

Or - exchange it fer the EP variant in 5w-20, if you insist on overspending for oil or are a diehard Mobil1 fan ...

Next time refer to the archival body of knowledge on here ( just a search away) before you buy anything - it will help you with making the right decisions... okay?

You will not gain any mileage by using any variant of M1 versus MC semi-synth - WTF did you hear that?

BTW - save yer grease - ya won't find any zerks - that's Ford's ridiculous TCO working for ya, lol.

I did my first one at 2k, cheap insurance and it made me feel warm and fuzzy. Maybe I'm old school like that but I've always done the first change sooner than recommended, who knows whats floating around in the engine after initial break-in? Perhaps I'm just paranoid, ****, whatever, but I figure its $25 well spent. My .02

Im not sure how the Fram Extra guard filters are but their cheaper ones they make really suck. Knowing this I would also recommend switching back to the Motorcraft Filter or a Wix filter.. You should check out bobistheoilguy.com and read up on some oil analysis reports. The Mobil 1 5w-20 is one of the best oils out there and you cant go wrong using it. Everyone on here recommends the Motorcraft oil, which is a good quality oil but doesnt hold a candle to the Mobil 1.

Have the dealer do the first oil change. Bubba the gorilla is still putting the filters on at the factory.

Still don't believe Labnerd or Jim Allen, eh?

The EP variant - possibly, but the regular M1? Not a chance - not anymore. What part of "it's an unremarkable Group III" don't you inderstand?

Wow,

I cant believe how everybody is wanting a synthetic blend oil over a full synthetic mobil 1 product.

This is what I bought for my truck yesterday

Why didn't you just get two of the five qt jugs, instead of the one and the two other qts?

You would be three qts ahead of game for next oil change, with the added bonus of having the M1 jug on your shelf to impress people.

Thanks
