I does suck, if what models get what engines listed is correct. Can't get the 6.2 on anything except HD, Raptor, Platinum, or Lariat with max tow. No FX4 listed. No XLT.

this can't be a surprise with what Ford has said all along. I'm surprised the 6.2 is available in anything other than the Raptor. My guess is they're hedging their bets on heavy towers accepting the ecoboost.
You can get the max tow in a lot more than just Lariat and Platinum. Makes far better senses to have it available across all models for just that reason. Not everyone wants a lariat to tow heavy stuff, especially commercial companies that need a truck, but not a superduty.
That's more trucks with the 6.2 than I thought. I think there are 2 reasons for not having it across the board:
1. Corporate average fuel economy
2. Production capacity
Commercial companies aren't that concerned about engine power to tow heavy. Those companies have been happy in the past with the 5.4 in a Super Duty - they should be happy with a 5.0 or EB in the F-150.

The EcoBoost will have max towing for the XLT and up. This will be the premium engine for towing.

I may end up getting a platinum just for the 6.2L and then painting the god awful tailgate that is on them. I wish I could get an FX4 from the factory with 6.2L and automatic running boards...might just wait until 2014-2015 to see where this all goes...def want others to be the guinea pigs for the 3.5L ecoboost
Here's another quote........
"We expect that in the next two to three years Ford will revise the 6.2 with new heads, four-valves per cylinder, direct injection and Ti-VCT for improved mileage and power."
That will be just about the time I'm ready to buy a new truck
