So it goes to the earphone jack not the port that syncs with the computer?

Correct. One end in the headphone jack and the other end in the trucks axillary jack. Pure magic :-)

Has anyone put their own electric break controller in? Is it as easy as this video? ie the harness is right there on the 2x XL version too?
