I came out of a 2006 6.0 Powerstroke also.......Would not even think of going back.....I really like my 2010 F-150

I am sure the new 6.7 Ford built powerstroke is a sweet engine.....but not for $50.000 plus for me....Ouch

Using a AMG as a comparison is where you are having issues. I have been in cars that will do 0-60 in 2.9 secs and 11 sec qtr miles i have owned cars that have done 0-60 in under 5 secs and have Been in cars from rs200' 911 turbo, gallardo, AC Schnitzer BMW, Turbo charged Audi RS4's, Brabus merc ext ext. I would never expect a truck no matter what size engine it had to even be any comparison to the above vehicles. You should have waited for the 6.2 then got some forced induction and then perhaps you would see some sub 6 second 0-60's. But even then it still won't be no super car beater.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment with your trucks performance. It is easy to understand that after many years of a certain history in a vehicle type changing to a different vehicle can be quite a change in what your used to and / or expected.
My 2006 is my 2nd truck with the 5.4 and 3.73's and although it is no Ferrari my truck has no problem to s!!t n git when I want it to.
I wish you luck with your endeavors to improve your trucks performance.
I for one am just happy with my truck as it is, I don't need to turn it into something it was never built to be.

Thanks guys for the intelligent input in the majority of the posts. for the record, i never expected a rocket. But you have to admit, the 5.7hemi motor is far superior. maybe the rest of the truck is ****, but the motor goes well. From what im reading, quite a few folks are very satisfied with their trucks and hopefully after a few small mods, i will be too. Too the guy who goes by BARRITIA, your a moron and your people skills suck. your the kinda guy i'd like to run off the road if i only had a faster truck..... LOL so keep trucking ya old geeser.

I've always driven Chevrolet trucks, so I am used to the extra pep the 5.3L has. However, when I test drove a 2010 Silverado, I was seriously disappointed in the new 6-speed transmission and how badly they'd cheapened the interiors and option packages in the two years since I bought my 08 Silverado. I knew the 5.4L would be slower than the 5.3, and wasn't too disappointed since I knew what to expect. Give it some time, though. My truck seems to have gotten a little more pep in it's step lately, possibly because my transmission has finally learned my driving style. I was satisfied with my truck when I bought it, and like it even more now that I've been driving it for a while.

rtr, I hope you find a way to be more satisfied with your truck. It is definitely a good one!

I'm right there with you trt - I've always said Ford wraps the best truck around the worst engines. My brother-in-law drives Chevy and his trucks feel so much quicker around town, but the truck itself is crap as far as I'm concerned.

I've been waiting a LONG time for Ford to upgrade their engines - hopefully the 2011 model year is the ticket.

ITS THE WORST ENGINE OF THE TESTED MODELS but was superior in eveything else. i get you all love your trucks. i loved my deisel's, im just surprised at the lack of performance in this truck. my powerstroke screw weighed approx. 8000lbs and would 've embarrased this truck, hence the post for info on throttle responce. to answer about my lead foot. i raced FIM world endurance series for a team in Germany on an american made Buell. these are 24 hr races so its all about pacing yourself. i try to drive consevatively and when i do, my avg. mileage is about 15 -16 highway, 14 -15 around town. remember i have 3:73 gearing and 4wd. if i do 60mph on the highway id get substantially better than i do at 72. either way, the throttle response is terrible so if you have suggestions...give'm up.
like I tell everybody that runs around my part of the country that brags about there chipped desiel being faster then a stock gas, if a gas truck came stock with forged internals and a turbo it would be better match. every driven one of the old 7.3 non turbos, sad aren't they compared to the turbo versions.

You are now comparing a dodge which you have not even driven to your truck! I'm not getting where your going with this. Perhaps take the dodge out and see for your self. I had one as a hire car when my f150 was being worked on back last winter and I can tell you now the hemi ain't all it's made out to be. GM's 6.2 eats the hemi up then some. Yeah it's faster but hardly even noticeable. On paper it's less than 1 second quicker to 60 and that's with the dodge running premium and the f150 running regular with more weight to carry! I'm sure the figure will be even closer with e85. 40-60 between the triton and hemi is also extremely close at about 1/3rd of a second slower. Again not forgetting the fuel used and how much more weight is on a f150 than a ram. If you tow a trailer then the figures are even closer than above. The hemi will do 0-60 with a trailer in 16.5 seconds and the f150 will do the same in 17 seconds. As I said before this is a f150 with a higher weight and different fuel. As you can see there's nothing in It. I just don't understand why you would buy a truck without test driving it then complain about how slow it is!

Again, as mentioned previously, i test drove the dodge with the 5.7 and the GM 5.3. The dodge motor was superior by far on both accounts with excellent throttle responce. I have every available option in my truck and for the most part, like the truck. That said, numerous people on this forum agree the engine is sub par. by the time the electronic signal (drive by wire system) gets to the engine, its a few seconds. that could very well be your last few seconds in any sticky situation. professional driver or not, these things happen. here in lies my point. So, once the truck gets up and goes, its not bad, but again the throttle response is extremely slow. Perhaps its just the 2010 model.

How many miles were on the ram? You will notice the engine lossens up after around 5000 miles and I'm now at 30k and it feels nothing like it did when it was new. My friend has a 2010 platinum the exact same spec as mine but 5.5ft bed and his feels tight compared to mine. You may have just driven a dodge that had already been run in and loosened up. Check the figures for your self. The hemi ain't really as great an engine as people make out. The crappy triton can hold it's own against it and it's a smaller engine at the end of it's life.

That is one expensive truck! I could get two of mine, as is in the pic below, for that. But I bet it is really nice. While we are talking about luxuries can I borrow your paycheck for the next few...years?

Definitely look into the gotts mod. I just finished (and posted the results) of a little experiment on the gotts mod on my '08 4.6L. I used the datalog feature on my gryphon programmer rather than the buttometer. Should help a bit with the mileage on your truck.
http://forum.gopowerhungry.com/conve...t-mileage.html

You could also look at the programmers to get a little better power and shifting. There are a few tuners that are doing custom orders for the 2010s and such. The Edge CS/CTS should be coming out for it soon if it hasn't already. I've heard of good results from PHP for the 2010's but I also haven't heard reviews of any other tuners yet.

Exhaust would probably be another idea. You could probably put high flow cats with the stock muffler if you want to keep it quiet. I would see if it is possible to go to 3" pipe after the "Y" since that is your next strongest point of restriction (that is if they still use the 2.5").

To be honest I really dont know too much about the newer trucks because I haven't had a chance to play with one yet, the points I mentioned are just the basics that tend to work on all stock vehicles. I do agree with your concern on throttle lag. The quicker response thanks to the intake mod and the programmer have gotten me out of some sticky situations.

Also what model did you purchase. That sounds awfully expensive for an f150 of any spec. I have the most loaded model they make and it cost me around $42k so you may wanna have words with your dealer about the cost. There even guys on here paid less than me for the same truck as mine so mine went even a great deal.

Sounds like the new 6.2L F-150 would have been a better choice

I just traded in my 05 Nissan Titan for a 2010 F150 super crew. My f150 is no where near as fast as my Titan, so I see where you are coming from with this. I out ran every truck on the highway with that thing (2 door king cab 305hp 3.73 axle). Although my f150 is slower, I'm still very satisfied because this is overall a much better truck in EVERY other way. Maybe try what what I told myself to do: Just get used to it. After all, you're still probably quicker than most people on the hwy and most vehicles that are quicker will usually be smaller (probably cars). Also, I just drove my f150 from Houston to new Orleans and got over 450 miles on the tank. I rarely saw 320 mpt on the Titan which had a 2 gallon bigger tank. I was much more excited over that than any speed trill I ever got out of the Nissan. With that said, I am still researching programmers and other mods to see if they're worth it.
