Brakes are nuts
When I tested a dealers 2010 truck the brakes were VERY touchy. But, when I received my new truck that was ordered and built on June 3rd the brakes are not as touchy as the earlier built truck? They are great, much better than my old 2004.......not as much brake dust either, thank god....
I've noted that the brakes on my 2010 regular cab / short box 4x4 have been "very sensitive" since day one. As I noted in my new vehicle survey sent from Ford, I was willing to wait and see though. My logic was that the brakes on my 2005 were junk from day one and obviously undersized for the application. If the new brakes lasted longer and I could get used to the modulation, I'd call it a win.
Well, I've now got 10,000 miles on the truck and I'd still call the brakes sensitive - but I've gotten used to them. And, they seem to be wearing much better than my 2005. Yes, they do take some getting used to though.

There seems to have been a sensitivity issue withe the early 2010 models. My first 2010, an XLT Screw (build date 7/09)was stupidly sensitive. My current 2010 Lariat Screw (build date 2/10) is perfect. And, the brakes are MUCH better than the '06 and "03 Screws I had. The '06 was downright scary towing my boat. The same is true of my 2010 Mustang GT. The brakes are a huge improvement over the '06 and '07 I have/had.
Coming from my past two cars, I dont find the F150s brakes to be bad.
Unfortunately, so many manufacturers use mushy compounds, thick shims, crappy MC's and leave enough slop in the pedal that having to actually press the brake pedal seems to be a common theme.
It was incredibly nice not to have to adjust a ton of slack and freeplay out of the pedal.
