Brakes are nuts

Hey guys, so for you 2009/'10 owners, are your brakes ridiculously sensitive? Anything over about 45mph and they are fine, but otherwise...The first inch or two almost jolts you forward if you don't press EXTREMELY lightly. I just hit 10k miles today and they are as sensitive as the day I drove it off the lot. Also, it likes to down-shift (or so it feels) at like 5mpg and thus makes you look like you're pulsing the brakes with Hercules-like force.

Any thoughts?

P.S. I've had it serviced twice (oil changed and side mirror replacement) at the dealership...they never mentioned anything...

The day I test drove my '10. I felt like I had never driven before.

I was used to really having to shove down on my '97 to get it to whoa down.

The brakes on my '10 a crazy touchy just like you mention, I don't have quite that many miles on mine though, and mines been super touchy since day one.

ive hand both now a 09 and 10 and the brakes have way more stoping power in the new truck vs the 09

but i often find myself being thrown in to the seat belt due to steping on the brakes a little to hard ...but no issue

The first time I brake everytime i get in my truck i push to hard. It takes that one time to get used to it. But after that it usually goes smooth. These brakes rock for sure.

I will never complain about the brakes in my '10. I had an '07 before this and the brakes in the truck were horrible. Even when the truck was empty they were garbage, but then when you were hauling something or towing something, they were even worse. When I test drove my '10, it was actually quite hilarious because I kept jolting everybody forward. It has taken some getting used to, but every once in a while I'll lock my seatbelt up by tapping them a little to aggressively. I will, however, never complain about how wonderful they are compared to the '07.

haha, thanks for the reply guys! I'm definitely not complaining, just wondering if this was normal with these new trucks. My old truck was a '99 Chevy, to get it to stop you had to press it to the floor. No complaints about the brakes here , but like CharlieHo said, it takes getting used to

The brakes in my 2010 FX4 are awesome. Nice to have good brakes for a change.

Mixed. On the truck I own (2010 f150 lariat screw) the brakes are fine...all the time...very nice.

I travel alot and I rented an F150 a few months before I bought mine. The brakes were so freaking sensitive that I looked like a new kid learning to drive a stick shift on my way out of the parking lot. If you even touched them at parking lot speeds they slammed to a halt.

I've not had anything like it out of the truck I own. If yours is doing it I'd have it checked out...no way it's correct.

I love the brakes in my truck. They are a little sensitive at times, but that's cool too. If you ever really need them its great to have. There's no replacement for stopping power.

The sales brochure claims a 12% increase in master cylinder bore diameter and a 6% increase in rotor diameter. I don't know if this is only for 2010 or 2009/2010, probably both years.

Brakes are "no nonsense"

When my '09 was new the brakes were very positive. Much better than my '95 F150 which is pretty worn down at 130+k or even my wife's '05 Beemer.
Since then, either my braking style has adjusted or the pads/rotors have worn in some. Considering my Hanook tires have traction issues on acceleration, it's reassuring I don't see that on braking. Enjoy it.
You want to see touchy, you should have driven my '63 Galaxie with a 390 FE, toploader, and 4-wheel 11" drums; push, push a little more, lock up! Crap!

2010. 2009 had the same brake system as in prior years ('04-'08).

When I tested a dealers 2010 truck the brakes were VERY touchy. But, when I received my new truck that was ordered and built on June 3rd the brakes are not as touchy as the earlier built truck? They are great, much better than my old 2004.......not as much brake dust either, thank god....
