I, much like Yetti, was concerned about putting a mercury switch in my console. So, I bought a pack of normally-closed push-button switches (P/N 275-1548, $3.49/4-pack @ RadioShack)

Nice job, looks great, and thanks for the imitation and flattery. I understand about the mercury, There are switches that use a ball bearing now.

I got a few e-mails about this...so I thought I'd post this crude drawing to go with both of our explanations. Obviously, the switch in the drawing is up to you.

Mustangjonny84, this is the way I wired mine. I did not put a fuse, but if you want to add one you would put it between the 12v+ and the switch. I just realized you are showing 2 led lights and not one. I kept looking at it and was thinking what in the world did you do? DUH now I see you have 2 led's. My bad. Anyway here is the way I wired for one led strip. :o

Good job guys! I'm wanting to add LED lights under the ledge just above the SYNC connection to illuminate the center console between the dash and shifter at night time. Many foreign cars such as BMW and Audi use red LED so that it is not distracting. Has anyone tried this already? Thanks again, T-Roy

Most tractors use orange for the same reason.

My Platinum has lights in the center console which seem bright enough, is this mod in addition to the lights already there?

Mine did not have any lights, so I added these.

Can you take a picture of this factory option? I'm curious to see how Ford set it up.

I have a 2010 Platinum and don't have any center console lights. Are you talking about the storage console between the front seats?
