How to install LED in console storage w/pics

I, much like Yetti, was concerned about putting a mercury switch in my console. So, I bought a pack of normally-closed push-button switches (P/N 275-1548, $3.49/4-pack @ RadioShack) and mounted one under the hinge. Think of the switch in your fridge. I also bought the LEDs in red. AutoZone offers red, white, and blue LEDs in pre-assembled strips.

These are the packaged LEDs that I bought:


And this is the end result...I thought red might be less distracting when driving:

Do you have pics of the switch location? I have everything working perfectly except i'm having the darnest time trying to figure out where to put the switch???

Yes I do...someone just asked for that last week.

I saw someone post they were going to do this to an '09 Platinum in the footwells? Did the '09 not come with LEDs down there already? My '10 platinum has the color change (Ford myColor) LEDs in the center console, front footwells, cupholders, rear footwells,etc. Just wondering?

I need to do this mod. It's so dark in there! lol. I would also like some kind of organizer for the bottom. The tray is good up top but everything in the bottom just rolls around and gets mixed together.

Great mod! Its now on my to-do list.

I'll probably do the pressure switch version.
