Good choice. You won't regret it. It's one of my favorite features in the warmer months.

Had it on my '06 and now have the solid with defrost on my '09. Can't say that I miss it and so far have used the defroster more than I used the slider.

Big issue on my '06 was operating the slider when I had my daughters child seat in the back and used the tether attachment. It always hit.

When I use my sunroof now, I simply crach a rear window....same thing.

Trust me, I'm 100% positive about this, as I have always wanted the rear slider w/defrost. In fact, it's a major reason I'll probably be picking up a 2011 F-150. The only thing that might make me hesitate is if the 2012 is all-new.
Should I take pics and post them up? If it is aftermarket then the dealer did it. And I don't know why they would have done that. Also, it's OEM

Exclamation 2010 first F-150 ever to have Power Sliding Rear Window with Defogger.

Perhaps you are confusing the side-view defrost button as a rear defrost button. Again, the rear sliding window with defrost was not available as an option on any F150 until the 2010 model year.

Here is a whole bunch of proof.

2009 F-150 options. Scroll down to Rear Defogger, Power Sliding Rear Window and Manual Sliding Rear Window options.

Unfortunately, from MY2004 up until MY2010, the only options for a rear window were as follows:
Option A: Solid rear window with defrost.
Option B: Manual rear slider (delete defrost)
Option C: Power rear slider (delete defrost)

If you truly have a sliding rear window with defrost on any model year other than a 2010, than it was an aftermarket install. I have seen a couple people do this on a 2009 using the ordered parts from a 2010 power slider w/defrost.

I have had a number of trucks with rear sliders and toppers and they really come in handy when hauling long stuff as stated earlier. I also like to be able to throw my kayak in the back to head out quickly and with a Screw short bed, there is a lot of kayak hanging out the back unless you can stick a couple of feet of it into the cab. Tie it to the rear grab handles, one or two bungees on the back and you are gone!

I was going to order a manual slider on my 2010 but found a package nearby that had an electric. I only open it now and then and not on the fly, so I figure I don't need the electric, but we'll see if it comes in handy!

Never had one broken into or any problems at all with them over the past 30 years.

The 2010 has a defrost, but not like the one is some pictures with the thick outside coverage - it is just thin wires. It has come in handy recently but might not be needed when I get the topper.

Actually, I'd like to see it! If you don't have the little tan lines across all of the glass like a normal rear-defrost window, then it doesn't have it. My defrost button works the heated mirrors, not the back glass. You could have a custom job!

Strange, the only time I get stuff (leaves mainly) coming in from the bed is when I only have the slider open...otherwise the airflow is in through the sunroof and out the rear slider....it is the best for smooth airflow

I have a 2010 with the power/defrost rear slider. I've only used it a couple times when I find myself behind an old diesel or especially the city buses and before I can push the button on the dash for recycle, the smell is awful. So I roll the windows down push the button between dome lights to slide it open and the smell is gone. The heat elements are pretty thick though.

Yes, I believed and understood you the first time that it wasn't an option. I was just letting you know that I somehow got one from the dealer with it installed. Maybe I can get some pics on Monday.

Any idea who the manufacturer is on the rear defrost? I have a 04 SCrew with the power sliding rear window and the defrost is no longer working. The light still turns on the radio but the blower no longer functions. Blows air on rear glass instead of a heating grid. Now I know why I can't find the fuse in the manual.

Mine is a vent as well instead of the grid. I do not know anything about who makes it. You could probably ask the dealer.
