Rear Electric Slider - why have it
Pros: Kids love climbing through it. I use it for good airflow.
Cons: Extra lines in rear view mirror. Couldn't get rear window defrost with this option. Extra cost.
Bottom line: This option was part of the overall package that was on the dealer's lot. I would not pay extra for this option.

And as everyone else has already said, it's a great feature for when you roll down the windows. It really reduces the amount of wind you get in your face. I also use it a lot when it's 45-65 degrees outside and I need outside air but don't want it blowing on me. Overall, it's a great feature and i'll definately get it again.
My 2004 ext. cab has the power rear slider AND rear window defrost

EXACTLY!!
The rear slider is the single best combination with the sunroof and I use them together all the time! I never did use the sunroof much before due to the "buffeting" and wind messing with you head and especially the noise. Now, with the rear slider open I can even travel at freeway speeds with the sunroof open and it's tolerable...around town it's a real pleasure
The trick is to leave all the windows up, open the sunroff and crack the slider for smooth air flow. The more you crack the slider, the more air flows through - so it's a wonderful way to adjust the air flowing through the cabin...this is one of my fav things about my '09 Platinum and I use it all the time

Another handy feature is when you are binging home moulding or other long objects from Home Depot you can open the slider, insert moulding and snug the slider up to the moulding to bring it home w/o it having to stick out the back of your bed and be tied down. Very happy I got it

I am 99.9% sure that the only way to get the defrost rear window from Ford was with the solid glass. No slider. My guess it was aftermarket.
love the power slider
x2 i love it in the summer time. On a really hot day you can just open everything and get all kinds of air. On a cooler night its great to just have the moon roof and the rear window open for a nice soft flow of air. Just enough. Its a great tool to adjust for any situation.
I have this on my FX4 and I like it alot. Like some have said with just that rear window open it will pull air out of the cab while driving and keep the cab at a comfortable temp. In a Super Crew there is no way you can reach the rear window from the front seat, so the power option really comes in handy. I really like it when im backing up to a trailer. I can just slide that all the way open and I can hear my spotter as I back up. Also when backing up trailers I like to look out the back window and with the window open I can see alot more area behind me. You could do all of the stuff I listed above with a manual window, but the first time you forget to open it and hop in the drivers seat you will wish it was power.

I can put the ball right under the coupler every time.
The rear slider w/defrost was NEVER an option until the 2010 model year, not even the 2009 Platinum's had it as an option.
In previous model years (such as 2009), you could get either rear slider w/out defrost or solid window w/defrost.
Trust me, I'm 100% positive about this, as I have always wanted the rear slider w/defrost. In fact, it's a major reason I'll probably be picking up a 2011 F-150. The only thing that might make me hesitate is if the 2012 is all-new.
Uhh if you are hauling lumber longer than your bed why would you mess around with sticking it through the rear window instead of just letting it hang over the tailgate?
