I posted the below italicized text on another thread. It does not involve reprograming but it worked. I can even use the feature that allows me to reverse the method and remove the key after the truck is running and leave it running when I leave the truck taking the key with me.

I was able to find a work around for the engine shutting down when opening the door and when inserting the key. The fix was to cut the wires that senses each action when it happens individually. In other words there is a wire that senses when the door is opened, and another wire that senses when inserting the key into the ignition.

I had this done for me by an electronics tech recommended by a local Ford dealer. I don't know exactly what wires he cut but after looking at the wiring diagram in the installation manual it looks like he cut wire A-20 which is GREEN/VIOLET in color with the function Door Ajar Switch Input and wire B-8 which is BLACK/WHITE in color with the function Key-In-Sense Input. Please verify these wires for yourself before inadvertently cutting them just based on color. Both wires were located under the dash by removing the panel on the right side of the dash and the one under the steering wheel. After cutting the wires all the electronics tech did was tape all the open ends.

I couldnt find the program override button. Going to call the service dept when they're open. Any ideas in the mean time where the button is usually at?

Ok I found the override button. No luck on the LED though. I was told it was red and should be taped to the main harness. No dice. I'm just going to take it in to the service dept.

Ok thats what I thought it was. He said it was red. I located it, but when I'm in the proper option bank. 4 honks. When I push the buttons on the fob, the LED does not light up.

When you are in the option bank you need to the cycle through the options and once you have done that hit the appropiate button and then you should see the LED light up.

I went to the fordaccessorystore website and looked at their install instructions manual. They dont have any that shows the option banks like the one you provided. The only option bank it shows is option bank 2 Tachless Mode. Can you double check your manual for a section for the bi-directional fob?

My manuals are from Code Systems themselves...the makers of the Ford Remote Start and Security Systems.

Ok gotcha. The two that you provided, one was the remote start with alarm and the other one was the standard remote start. I'm looking for the bi-directional option banks and procedure.

I just would rather do it myself, than take it in.

^I'm pretty sure your options/settings are the same as the standard remote start (Bronze system). Those newer manuals on the Ford website don't show all of the settings for some reason.

If you want to see the manuals that he is talking about (which he previously posted), just sign up for a username on this website and click Ford on the menu bar: http://techservices.codesystems.com/Login.aspx

Awesome. I think I got it now. And to think I'm mechanically and technically savvy.

Just finished doing it a couple minutes ago.

I changed the setting on Option Bank 2 setting 7.

Just a question. When I activate my remote start, my truck honks once, then honks another time when the truck actually starts. Is this normal or is the honks telling me something.

cool. That's the confirmation honk and that's normal. On the alarm and remote start system, you can disable that feature in the option bank. But you can't for the basic remote start system.
