Paint to match 3rd brake light...
So, for fun, I ordered a new 3rd brake light cover from Tasca. It was a little more than $40, not including shipping. I did this in case I screwed something up with the factory one.
Anyway, a little masking tape, a little scuffing, some Duplicolor paint adhesion promoter and some Rustoleum for Plastic paint...see crappy cell pic below.
Unfortunately, I can't put this on for about a week. According to the paint can, I need to let the paint cure for 5-7 days. Plus I still need to clear coat, which I'll do after 48 hours. I'll post better pics once it's on the truck.

That looks sweet but I'm not to keen on how dark it is. I used Niteshades on my 05 and went way to dark at first, I sanded it all down and used only 1 coat to "smoke" it and liked the results much better.
first try, way to dark

Second attempt

That does look much better. Nice job.
The look I was going for was to basically make the cover blend in with the truck better...with the exception of the brake light itself. I left that untouched. The white just stuck out way too much for my liking.

I bought a "general use" clear coat for this...but I do have some of the clear coat for wheels left, which says it's good on plastic. I'm thinking I'll use that instead...any reason why I shouldn't?
