I just visited the shop where I bought my 04-08 FX4 rims and was able to look at them directly side-by-side with the 04-08 Lariat rims. I was obvious why the FX4 rims are having issues. These is so much more extra metal material around the centre hub and working out towards the spokes. On the FX4 rims the metal gradually thins towards the spokes. The Lariat rim is the exact opposite. As soon as you are past the centre hub area there is a sudden change to the new depth of the spokes. The guy was really cool about the hole thing, and he is willing to let me trade my FX4 rims for Lariat rims. He also has a set of the 09 FX4 rims, but the have rubber on them and I don't need an extra set of tires.

If you get a chance, pics would be nice. Most of us do not get the opportunity to see them side by side. Thanks.

Who are you dealing with? I am in Scarborough and am looking for a wheel swap myself. I almost convinced my dealer to trade my 09 FX4 18s for a set of 07 OEM 20's, but they backed out on the deal.

Does anyone have any info on the 20" rims. Does the inside hub mount section look like the described above or cut out drastically?

FYI, it appears the inside of the 20's (any year) should work on 09+s

Here is a pic of an 05 OEM 20 I found

From the picture above it definitely looks like the older 20's will fit. The inside of the rim looks exactly like the new 09 FX4 18" rims that I got for my 09, and also looks the same as the older style Lariat rims (which is why they fit fine on the 09's)

Well, I was able to get some 1/4" spacers. Made in China but that was all I could get. I wouldn't go any thinner than 1/4". Hopefully they hold up. They will need to be checked often for torque for the first little while.

BTW, anyone have much experience with the TPMS sensors? I've been driving around town for days on the back two winter wheels but the TPMS light didn't come on until I hit the highway at speed. Looks like I'll need to program the new ones.

Yes you will need to get the reset tool and reprogram all of them. Instructions are in the owners manual. I am now using 2 sets of tires with sensors. Reprogramming took all of about 2 minutes when I put on my winter tires.
Sensors and system know when you are moving or not. Once moving, you need to travel about 20 miles at above 25mph before you will get the light showing a sensor malfunction. On my old 07, the light would flash 75 times, then come on solid. On the new ones, I am not sure they flash like that.

Just picked up a set of 07 OEM 20s and will be putting them on my 09 tonight... Well i am planning too anyways.

I am going to be putting my 305-55-R20 Mickey Thompson ATZs on them and will let you know how i make out. I also picked up 2 sets of spacers to combat rub since i am sure there will be some. Will post pics as soon as they're on.

No I WAS GOING to swap my Mickeys from my KMCs onto stockers... but got jammered by the guy selling me the stock 20s. Apparently mint isn't what is used to be. Just met to get the rims last thursday and they turned out to be trashed, so needless to say I am still looking for OEM 20's.
