2005 rims on a 2009???
Don't dont fit. They would need a 1/4'' spacer to fit on the front.
The dealer was right... and put a groove all around the inside of the rims.
Verdic = They don't fit and now my step dad have 2 grooved wheel.

So the OEM 18 inch wheels are actually rubbing on the brake caliper? Wow! I wonder if this means there will be a fitment issues with 18 inch aftermarket wheels? Or maybe the aftermarket 18's will be fine since most have 5 inches or less BS.
Ok i'll take time to explain.
They do rub the inside, but not on the spoke. They rub on the rim ''shoe'' or ''bed'' however you want to name it. The part that's in contact with the disk brake directly.
Oh and it doesn't rub on the caliper itself, but on the bracket that hold the caliper in place.
I'll try to take a picture this week. It won't be easy, but i'll do my best.

The design is causing the problem.
By looking at the stock 09 and stock 05 18'' it appears to have the same backspacing, BUT the center of the wheel, where it make contact with the disk is made a little different.
Instead of being at ''45 degres'' (stock 09) it's at ''70 degres'' (stock 05) and that's why it's making contact.
I did a drawing of the problem. (laugh if you want

Just an FYI, I just put my 04 17" OE wheels with my winter tires on my 09. No problems whatsoever. So OE 04-08 wheels will wok on an 09. Took all of 2 minutes to also retrain the TPMS system to the sensors on those wheels.
You need a 1/4'' spacer to put them on the front.
If you don't know which rims i'm talking about. Juste look above, there's picture of my old truck.
My stock 17" are already on with no problems. They are what came on an XLT that I bought from the dealer. Not pretty, but work fine for winter.
Here is a pic of those rims on my 04.

I just put my set of 18" Lariat rims on my '09 - no problems.
I bought these rims from eBay, and am not sure exactly what year they are from, but they are from an '04-'06.

This is really weird. So it appears that the OEM 04-08 18 inch FX4 wheels are the only ones that won't fit the 09-10's? But OEM 17 inch wheels do? The only answer is the backside of the OEM 04-08 FX4 18 inch wheels have a weird design.
05 17" STX rims don't work either, I bought a set to run for the winter and I"m rubbing also. It's not too bad thought and I am considering giving the caliper bracket a little touch with the minigrinder then repainting it????? about .5mm has to be removed.

No harm in grinding the caliper. We had to do this to a friends rig when he swapped in Dana 60's and wanted to run the 15" beadlocks with 44's he had
