Talking Manual Tranny

The 2010 Shelby GT500 has a 6 speed manual tranny. Any chance it would fit into an F-150 ?

Why? I guess I just do not see the appeal in shifting a 6k lb truck and reduced towing capacities, even IF it could work at any cost. Call me new school but my auto tranny fits my lifestyle just fine.

The 2010 Nissan GTR has a manual tranny. Any chance it will make it in the F-150?

Different market. If someone wants a manual trans, Ford offers the Superduty.

And even that will be losing the man trans in 2011, or so I've heard.

if I ever get around to swapping a V8 or a diesel into my F-150 I plan on keeping it stick no matter how much it costs.

**** automatic.

Ford really needs to offer standard shift trucks. I can't say it enough. Automatics are not good, as they waste gas, suddenly die, and are quite dangerous. In fact there are more people that die because of automatic transmissions than people who drive standard transmissions.

Here's a good proof that automatics are dangerous: "A woman accidentally stepped on her SUV’s acceleration pedal instead of the brakes Thursday, sending her vehicle crashing into the window of a North Side daycare, authorities said." (http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/SUV..._day_care.html)

That incident would've never happened if it was standard shift.

Or even better (from the experts!):

According to experts, when the vehicle starts moving, the kid could become scared and jump out of the car and get run over. Statistics shows that at least 100 children have been injured or killed this way. Consumer groups have recommended the use of a simple safety device that would prevent automatic cars from inadvertently shifting into gear. But some automakers have not integrated the feature to their lineup yet. This is why millions of vehicles on the road these days could hurt or, worst, kill kids."

Even though that is for the BSIL, it can still happen and it does happen.

Also, it's a proven fact that people speed more while driving automatic as well.

I will never own a vehicle with an automatic transmission again. Period.

Not that they are too lazy but too dumb to operate a clutch and stick at the same time, I mean how the hell are you supposed to text when you have to shift gears all the time. I personally think they should still have manual as an opt.

Maybe because it forces them to realize that they are operating machinery.

A car/truck in my eyes is no different than operating a Cat 375 -- both when used while being distracted can not only kill the operator but kill people around them. Not to mention cause damage to property.

percentage wise? or overall more automatic drivers die then stickshift drivers die... there are way more autos out there stick.... i love autos, they are my job security =) and often gas mileage is better on autos then manuals... more so now with the cvt's and the more gears like the 6 7 and 8 speeds...

I love my manual transmissions in certain vehicles, but never want one in my pickups.
