New here guys! This may have been covered but I can't locate anything on it. Can anyone tell me if and how can I wire the back up camera to come on all the time ( by a switch maybe) instead of only in reverse. Any info appreciarted. Thanks

Ditto! Would like to know as well. Need an electrical guru to play around with it.

I'm willing to bet (from experience of wiring several aftermarket ones) that if you trace the wires from the camera, one goes to the backup light circuit. When the truck is put into reverse, the camera is energized and the image displayed. Timkering around with adding an independent 12V supply to the camera should produce the image. If I didn't wire my aftermarket one to the backup light wiring, I'd have to turn the camera on individually, or leave it on all the time if hooked to a hot keyed power source.

I have the same setup as you. Did you find anything out? I would like to do the same if possible. It would be great to turn it on to see a low trailer behind you while going forward.

I got it figured out !!!!!!!!!!!!
A big thanks to forum member sscully for help with wiring diagrams !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is a link to the diagrams. https://www.f150online.com/forums/el...am-please.html
I mounted a small rocker switch on the bottom of the rear view mirror with double sided tape to turn on or off.
Camera can be switched on while in any gear.
It does however make the backup lights also come on.

Help Please!!! Reverse Cam Project in 09'

Really new to this forum but have read countless threads on installation of the reverse camera and Mirror. I have been in contact with Domenic at Tasca who has been a great help indeed, but has since been stumped aswell. Now i have installed both back and headliner harnesses and have confirmed that main harness has no brown/yellow & brown wires. I have run new RCA wires to the back indepently so i can have video feed (mirror harness brown/yellow & brown to the rear harness Brown/yellow & brown) and reconnected the tailgate camera harness. once completed i reconnected everything to see if all worked, but what do you know still a blue screen once i put it in reverse. Can someone please help I'm trying to figure this out and have reached a point that i cant turn back. I did read a forum to that stated the exact same thing i did and everything worked......What am i missing here..... please help.
