Thanks BlueJay. That's why I posted on here because even when I was a chevy guy I gained a lot of helpful insight from the forums and I'm sure I shared a great deal also. I'm really looking forward to continuing this relationship. You guys/gals are great!

The underhood label is your bible engine info, what fuel it can run. This is on any vehicle, though sometoimes this info is located other than under hood.

Thanks Ronfx4, this of course leads me to another question. since it says ethanol, here in Wisconsin, almost everywhere has 10% ethanol do you thinkg that would include E85? I have a E85 station just down the road from where I live otherwise it wouldn't be such an issue.

Although it would be great to know the answer to your dilemma, whats the point? The savings in running E85 is offset by the lower mileae. Just stick to regular (E10) gas.

Any gas vehicle will run E10. The fact that the emissions sticker reads gas/ethanol means it was designed for E85.

It would appear that they forgot to place yellow ring on gas filler or that they don't have decal on body.

Raptor05121, I see your point. Hopefully you see mine; I pay 35k for a truck and the dealer can't tell me what I got. Now that's a sad state of affairs. I'd like to know myself cuz you never know, some day, I just may need to fill up with E85 in a pinch.

I wish we had E85 here in northeast. The added performance alone of 25ft llbs torque is an advantage and costs less per gallon. Even though mpg is less, you're gaining power.

If the window sticker is the correct one for your vehicle and it has the FFV, then you are most likely good to go. My take on it is, if it has an issue, then you are covered because original documentation states that. They would be buying me a new truck if it turned out that the truck was not but the window sticker said it was.

If you dont have the sticker, you can use this URL to get it.

jomedic, You're probably already thinking this, but if you indeed have an FFV engine then get the dealer to add the appropriate stickers and parts to make it right; i.e. yellow ring. You will sell this truck one day. Your buyer will appreciate it.

To the dealer I go today. They will "fit" me in today but they're really busy with the cash for clunkers program. I know which dealer I'll never buy from again.

Dealer confirms it is a Flex Fuel vehicle and replaced the ring on the filler with the yellow one. He also looked up my vin and then crossed referenced the part for the fuel filler and it came up with the yellow one. Must have been an assembly issue. Either way, thanks to all your your insight. I did try to post pics but the site says I cannot post attachments for some reason.

Nope, no one can post attachments. No pics can be posted from your hard drive. To be posted, they have to come from a hosted site such as the picture galleries on this site or something like Photobucket.

Glad you got your question resolved. Hope you enjoy the truck!

I just picked up a 2010 with a the same black ring with a slash through E-20 to E-85, yet is says Flex Fuel on the tailgate. I have already ran 5 gallons of E85 through it with no problem, I will bring this up with the dealer.
