Snap, Crackle, POP?

When I bought my Screw, I did not know someone fed it Rice Krispies? Every time I turn off the truck it starts to snap, crackle and pop. I suppose it’s the muffler cooling down, from what I can tell…but my first ’09 did not do this?

Last night I pulled the trailer home backed it into the driveway and left the truck running while I jumped out...could hear the muffler pinging and popping before I ever shut off the engine?

Anyone else hearing this?

its actually the cat converters, and its completely normal. have you never heard your oven do it when its been on for a long time, and you just it off.

and every truck i have owned since 97 has done it. there is nothing to worry about.

I think the level of noise varies. My '05 made a loud noise, '07 was considerably less but still there, and now the '09 is less than the '07. Not silent but definitely less noisy on cool down.

It's a characteristic of stainless steel cooling down.

Yep, I've noticed this with my '09 as well... not a big deal, but certainly noisier than my previous F150's when it's cooling down.

Lol, thanks for all the responses! Like I said, I figured it was the muffler (OK, CAT) but I am just shocked that my first '09 was silent and this one really sings!
