Downsizing to 17's and getting Nitto's

Officially made my mind up getting the Pro Comp 7005's in 17's and going to run either 295/70/17 (33x12) or 305/70/17 (34x12.5) nitto terra grapplers.

Well, let me know how the tires go. I swapped the Cooper Discoverer STT 285/70/R17 from my 2005 F-150 on my new 2009 F-150 FX4 6.6 SCrew, and they are fine, but after the summer might want to upgrade to definately 295/70/R17 or even 305/70/R17. Would be great to know how the will work on you. I only intend to get a 2.5" leveling kit for the front...

I will for sure post pics and review them. I think it makes much more sense going 17 vs. 18. Only 1 inch in size of the rim and 100's of dollars difference in prices for tires/rims. Would go 20 but that IMO is just looks no good function for off road.

I've got 295 70 R17s on my truck. They suck going from BFG MTs. I had stock 265 70s in Bridgestones before and they were almost as good as the Nittos. The nittos wear great, truck weights about 6,500 lbs w/ me in in and it's a pretty even spread front to back, I've got roughly 40K miles on them with about 50% remaining (50% to the 2/32 mark not bald). They do great on the highway but you'll need to keep up with rotation to keep noise down. They do great in the rain as well but in sand and mud they suck. I'm not sure if I don't have enough power to spin them fast enough in the mud to clean them out or what but they just don't dig as well as even BFG ATs. I can say this is my first last and only set of Nittos, they are a great value, I paid 160 ea mounted. I'd pay the extra for the BF Goodrich ATs next time as about 20% of my miles are on jobsites and nasty conditions. A co worker who has them does 100% highway and city driving and loves his nittos over the BFGs so if your never off road they are the tire to have. I've never had them in snow so I can't help there but they look like they would work well.

Nice thanks for all the good input! Do you by any chance have pics of your 295's?

Still trying to decide either 295/70/17 or 305/70/17.... Already have the rims on hold at my brothers shop just need to decide!! 33 or 34 so minor in comparison but want the right look for the 09 FX4. I actually am losing sleep over this lol. OCD is killing me.
