2009 Leaking Rear Window?

I have had a 2009 Lariat Super Crew 4X4 for just about a month and have noticed the water/rain leaking into the rear seat area just above where the shoulder belts come through the interior trim. In a hard rain the water leaks in pretty badly. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem, and if so, have you been able to determine exactly where the water is leaking in?

Thanks for any help.

I had a leak in the front...dealer took care of it...they have a "water specialist."

Thanks. I have heard this is a fairly common problem on the 09's. BTW, great looking truck. I went with black also.

Wow, but fortunately for me, I don't have a water leak problem on my '09.

A few others have written about water leaks on their trucks, mostly the front windshield and sunroof areas.

Take it back to the dealer, tell them about the leak and see their procedure for correcting the problem. I'm sure you'll be treated well. Post the fix taken when you can.

I ran the truck through the car wash late this afternoon. There's still a leak in the front.

Found the water leak on mine. It was indeed around the 3rd brake light. Had my daughter hold the water hose over the light and it leaked horribly. Dealer offered to replace the brake light, but who says it would be any better. I removed the light and put a good bead of clear silicone on the factory gasket and replaced and then put another bead around where the lens meets the body. I had to do this to a Nissan I previously owned as well. I do, however, have a light water line/stain where it leaked the other day. If I cannot get the stain cleaned myself, I will take it to the dealer and let them do their thing.

Thanks for the posts.

I just noticed that mine has a leak in the back window, too. I'll shower some water on it and try to trace it, but I think I'll just leave it to the dealer - if it's coming through the light, that should be sealed pretty easily with some silicone -if it's the seal around the window, that's a bigger hassle, obviously.

Is this a problem with the leak around the third brake light? I haven't seen any other posts about it. I haven't seen any leaks from mine.

My problem was definitely around the 3rd brake light. I had my daughter run the hose over the two "seams" on the outer edges of the roof and nothing came in. When she held the hose over the 3rd brake light it came pouring in. When I removed the brake light it was full of water also. I chose to try and fix the problem myself and if it continues to leak I'll take it to the dealer. I guess anytime a hole is cut in the top of a vehicle that just creates one more opportunity for a problem. With that said, I LOVE the truck other wise!

Perhaps unrelated but; I just traded in a KR Screw ('06) and about 6 months ago the power folding mirrors quit working; it was still under warranty; to keep things short it ended up being due to a leak in the third brake light. Water was going down between the walls and sitting near floor (between panels) and according to the dealer that just happened to be where some type of connection box was located that supplied power to the mirrors; ended up abou a $600.00 fix (although the warranty covered it; might be something to keep an eye on with the '09....

The 04-08 models had an issue where it would leak at the 3rd brake light and trickle down the rear glass on the inside
