That's a great improvement for a great price!

If I had the mirrors with the reflectors I would definitely do this simple mod.

I am gonna do this when I get mine. What are you using for the clear coat? I read some are using Duplicolor. Has anyone used the VHT quick clear coat?

So easy

Ordered the black STX lens covers for my 09 FX4 Screw yesterday from my dealer, picked them up today and installed them. 2 minutes of work and $8.64 CDN for both pieces. Looks so much better

If anybody is performing this mod anytime soon, can you please take some photos of what the area behind the reflectors looks like? I'm going to try and mod the reflector and install a small LED strip wired to the turn signal lamps. Any pics or descriptions would be helpful. Thanks!

^just pop off your reflector and take a look! It's not that hard and if you take your time you won't break it. You can easily snap it back in place.

^Thanks for the tip, actually that's exactly what I did yesterday afternoon. I saw that the reflector is 2 pieces (1 orange lens and one white "body"). I think i'll be able to dremel out a countersink for the LED strip in the reflector body and also in the mirror body where it seats. I also popped out the puddle lamp plug and was able to feel the wires for the turn signals. Once I get the LED's ordered and start messing around, I'll be sure to document everything with pictures.

Also, to anyone who is messing with these, make sure to pry from the outer edge first, the curved end that's on the outside of the mirror. This will ensure you don't break the tabs on the opposite end.

can someone please take a pic of the back of one of these reflectors? im trying to find a way to add a clearance light to the front of the TT mirrors and not having any luck. they look like they will fit the contour of the mirror, but want to see how they attach. see if i can duplicate the mounting on my TT mirrors. thanks guys!!!

I did the reflector turn signal mod and it very easy to pop the mirrors out and do this so Ill be doing the smoke mod also, it only takes like 3 minutes to take the reflectors out including mirror removal and you stand less of a chance of breaking the reflectors.

Mine are curing as I type! This is incredibly easy to do, and I already had 4 cans of VHT left over from an old project. Took 30 sec. to pull both reflectors off with a putty knife starting on the outer curve and prying them off. I hit them both really dark with the tint. Then sometime in the future I'm planning on doing the turn signal mod with amber LEDs so it'll still be subtle, but still show through when turning them on.

Got my STX inserts. Looks alot better without the reflector and I think it looks cleaner compared to the Tinted reflector.

Do you happen to know the part number for these inserts?
