Sync dead
Where is the Sync fuse location 2011 f150?
I have been experiencing these same issues. Since I bought the truck (February), SYNC and my iPhone have not gotten along consistently. Sometimes it’s fine, other times it doesn’t work. Here is a partial list of problems that occur:
1: I push the AUX button to listen to iPod (on my iPhone) and SYNC comes up for about 1 second and then goes to the FM radio. I usually have to unplug the USB cable for a few seconds to fix.
2: After the iPod has been playing, if I turn the engine off / remove keys to go into a store, when I restart the truck the iPod will not skip track or go back to a different track. I have to request a different artist and then it works.
Or
3: After the iPod has been playing, if I turn the engine off / remove keys , when I restart the truck the message center says “Play Menu” instead of resuming the song where it left off. I have to request USB again, and then pick an artist or album.
4: At least twice it has completely shut down, and I’ve had to shut the truck off and restart it to get SYNC or the phone controls to work.
5: Sometime the phone doesn’t connect when I get in, sometimes it does.
I figured these issues have been a Microsoft / Apple problem; it is very interesting to see others having the same problems. I guess the SYNC system has some bugs.

Make sure your version of Sync is the latest for your vehicle. I don't use the iPod player on my iPhone much at all. I leave my 16GB flash drive plugged in all the time.
I have not had any issues with the new truck. I had a couple of issues in the SHO. Both times, unhooking the battery fixed the issue after pulling the fuse didn't.

I don't have any problems with leaving my 5g flash drives connected all the time.
Sometimes I don't use it for weeks, but it always goes back to where it stopped even when switching the media input.
I've never had to re-boot or download anything from RidemySync. (or whatevah!)
Occasionally, when I request the phone, sync sez, "There is no phone available, I will try to connect one" and five seconds later I'm connected.
I would think that if you have to use certain procedures to have sync work properly, something is wrong.
I use a BB Storm and so far, no complaints. I stream Slacker with BT constantly and sometimes when I remote start "Chester the Molester" my phone connects while I'm still in my crib.

I went on a trip[ with a firend who has an IPOD. I tries showing off sync to him and after we hooked up his IPOD and then waped backt omy usb drive then back to his ipod a few songs later...l SYNC locked up and nothing worked until I removed everthing pulled over and stopped the truck for lunch. we got back in and only hooded up my phone the my usb drive and the rest of thrip everything worked.
The biggest thing I hate about sunc is that I like it so much when it workds it really chaps me when it goes on the fritz!
passenger side right kick panel. It is a real pita to get to. the fuse block is behind a "bump out" right where your right foot would be if you were the passenger... I don't remeber what number it is.. Ithink it is on the inside cover though...
I could be wrong but I think when folks are saying the SYNC is "dead" I think it is really doing what microsoft is famous for... That is a software "hangup" I have had my phone bluetooth and usb not work for the whole trip to work "20 miles" and other times I have had sync "hang/frozen", then waited a few miles without trying anything... all of a sudden I get the voice telling me "say a command" odd but I have only pulled the fuse one time. and after not leaving my thumb drive in during an off cycle no problems. I also guess that if I did not want/or have a bluetooth phone.. then the thumbdrive would not be an issue... If I leave my phone at home. I seem to be able to leave the tumb drive in and it works fine on a restart.. but really who leaves their phone at home these days?
I have the blackberry bold and can not leave my 4 GB USB thumb drive plugged in. If I do the phone whill not sync when I turn on the truck. I now remove the usb drive before turning the truck off and make sure the fadio is on sat or FM and next time I get in the phone syncs then I plug in usb drive if I want and it stays working.

My Sync still works well, no problems with any of it.
I did finally remove my flash drive, too. When I re-inserted it, it indexed for about 10 sec. then picked up where it had left off.
On the 2012 it is fuse #2 in the passenger side kick panel. Be sure to put a piece of paper or cardboard on the floor before you pull the fuse as they are small and easy to drop but hard to get back out of the place they land when you do drop them
It did however fix my dead sync for now.
