Ionic Railway Running Boards
Ionic Railway Running Boards
Has anyone seen these boards? They look like the factory ones but way cheaper. I've ordered them and will ship out soon...I'm paying $329.00 shipped and the best price I've found on the Ford Factory ones is $505.
Any ideas?????
Thanks all who answer.....
Here's the place I'm getting them from....

You'll have to let us know how you like them. I got the Ford ones, pretty nice, but I would have much preferred to pay $329 instead of $485.

Plastic for the black makes a lot of sense but like jac4x4 says chromed plastic seems to be less durable than metal and steps take a lot of abuse both from their intended use and road debris. It sounds like they mold the plastic over aluminum (tubing or an extrusion, one would assume) which should make for a pretty solid structure.
I ordered the black ones last thursday, they arrived today. first impressions very light, seems rigid, the no slip pads are actually molded in, the bottom of the running board has an aluminum beam that runs the whole length, the body is blow molded abs with the aluminum recessed into the plastic, here are some pics I will install these tomorrow if the weather holds out. I think these will be better then the westin black powder coat tube bars i had on a blazer ( in less than 1 1/2 years they started to rust through)

looks nice, but why didn't they make the brackets black too? and will you have to drill holes to mount those brackets? There should be holes already there where the factory brackets go, but those seem to require a few more brackets per board?
according to the instructions the holes are already there so no drilling, there are 4 brackets per side i guess its to hold all the weight. i will be painting the brackets black even though i dont think they will show but it wont take long to do, pics will be out tomorrow that is if it isnt raining
You might look into getting the brackets powder coated before install rather than painting. Its a pretty rough environment down there. Either way, you may need to etch them with phosphoric acid (outside, and don't breathe the fumes) or sandblast them to get a good bond. Paint doesn't like to stick to zinc coatings, which is what I assume is on those. Lowe's sells phosphoric acid in the paint department. I can't remember the brand name but its something like prep-n-etch or something like that. Its a green liquid in a 1 quart jug.
