Ford Vs Dodge

Dodge Vs Ford
Hey everyone. My lease is coming due in the next four months, and just for ****s and giggles, I decided to test drive a 2009 dodge ram...and I was blown away with the horsepower and the ride! The beast took off like a bat out of hell, and the ride was smooth! The interior is really sharp too.
Now, I've been a ford man for years (I've owned four fords-two rangers, two f-150's), but the '09's seem about as aerodynamic as a brick, and the interior seems way too busy (too many buttons, a la the 1990's version of the chevy interior).
I guess I'm looking for some feedback on what my choice should be, considering the Ford did take truck of the year, even with less horse power, and a fair ride.

Really depends on what you are looking for: decreased payload, possibly faster from light to light, and a so-so tranny, and a tundra look-a-like...then the Ram is for you. If you want a truck that is refined yet tough and capable of all things, then get the F-150. I like watching the youtube videos comparing the vehicles.

My biggest concern, other than hemi reliability, would be the fact the ram looks so droopy and sad in the front end. Kind of like how the tundra is droopy, the chrome piece kinda sags towards the ground. The ram is even worse, the whole front droops towards the pavement. The only 2 trucks to stand tall are the F-150 and GMC, although the GMC looks like junk from the side. I would hate to drive a vehicle that looked like crap, so really the F-150 is far and away above all the others in that department.

In fact, other than raw horsepower (which is rather meaningless unless you intend to drag race or go drifting), the 150 takes all the categories. Best interior, best exterior, best features, most capable and very quiet. But to each his own, some people like other stuff out there, why else would they make gag-inducing vehicles like the pt cruiser or those box-on-wheels scion things or the titan that's so bad dodge will be making it for them soon.

The 09 F-150 has the best in class aerodynamic rating beating Dodge.

The 09 Ram has 3 recalls already. The 09 F-150 and Super Duty have none.

Yada, yada, yada.........

Everyone I know with a Ram has problems with the interior parts breaking and cracked dashes on trucks some just two years old. Then there are the paint issues...

I've also heard that the new F150 has FEWER buttons than the previous model- anyone able to confirm or deny this?

On a side note, anyone that is crying about the buttons as a reason not to buy a truck probably shouldn't be operating a motor vehicle if something that simple can overwhelm you.

You need to go drive the new 09. The figures for the ram and f150 are within milliseconds of each other. Some tests have even shown them to be eaxtaly the same. But even so thats not what it's all about. The Ford will outlast the ram no problem and will def have less issues. If you are happy with the rams build quality and lower capability then go for the ram but if you want the best truck then the f150 is the way to go. I looked at all of them and the f150 came out on top.

I looked at them all before ordering my '09 F-150 and the Dodge was my least favorite. Looks aren't everything (and very subjective) but I couldn't warm up to the RAM's looks or somewhat cheap looking interior at all...I know that if I would have gotten the RAM - I probably would have traded it within a year and gone back to the F-150. I am biased though, as I currently have a 2005 Lariat Screw 4x4 and it's been to the dealer only once for a minor window regulator gear issue that was covered under warrantly. I've had the truck 4 years now and other than routine maintenance it just keeps on driving great...it's really YOUR choice though as you are the one who will be shelling out the $$'s for it. Good luck on whatever you choose!

I feel the same about the interior. The crazy thing is the ram interior gets voted better than the f150's in all the tests the ram wins??? People must either be blind or stupid as the rams interior looks like a cheap copy of the f150's. I know people are biased if they like the ram but to say it's interiror is better makes me think they are being paid to say that.

You need to test drive the new F150. That alone will give you the answer.

I barely touch any buttons on the dash with the sync option. My foot is the one thing that gets most of the work. I do seem to smile too much when I'm driving around. Even with the kids in the truck.

The 5.4 L with the 6 speed hauls butt.

Take a test ride and then post your results. It's your $$$$.

WOW, I can't imagine even one person (sane person that is) choosing the RAM interior over the F-150 interior...IMO, they're not even in the same class...RAM still has that multi-colored plastic panel look (much like the Tundra and Chevy). Biased I know, but I really believe that the new Dodge/Chevy/Tundra are still behind compared to my '05 Lariat interior and YEARS behind the new '09 F-150 interior....no comparison at all, quality of materials, layout, functionality, ergonomics, etc....

You'd swear you were looking at a car or cross over in that picture.

I love older [94-08] dodges but I hate the new one, through and through.

Its small, low slung, it takes no dodge styling ques.. Looks like a Titan in some ways, which degrades the Titan. There's not even an option for freaking tow mirrors. WHAT are they aiming for????

That said, I'm not itching to buy the new ford either.
/opinion.

Test drive both, and figure out what you like.

Are you sure the Platinum has real wood?

Im think i read it's a wood veneer with an acrylic coating. It was ages ago i read about it. It does look very real when you look at it compaired to other wood trims in other cars. Not as real looking as our range rover sport but that seems to have a thinner coating on it.
