Ford Vs Dodge
dodge and Chrysler are POS. just look at consumer reports. dodge is built cheap. I will never buy a dodge. I believe they look to be on the best on the road as far as aggressiveness, but looks only go so far. Ill stick to my Ford and chevy/gmc for reliability.

both trucks have their good and bad points, but I've got to ask the following:
1. If this was a dodge site, and I was asking the same question about dodge vs ford, would I not get the same arguements? I know fords that have been driven for over 300,000 Miles and dodges that have been driven for 300,000 as well.
2. Where does everyone get the tundra/dodge lookalike from? I've looked at the front of a Dodge and the front of a Tundra, and they don't look anything alike. Again, it is my money, and i think that the dodge looks a lot sharper than a ford but I think I'll take an 09 for a test drive this weekend.
3. In the truck of the year catagory, the ford won, but by a slight margin in certain areas (i.e. gas milege, interior-sorry guys, when I test drove the ram, I thought the interior was well laid out, vs the numerous buttons on the ford)
4. Someone also mentioned the front end sagging on the Dodge, but I thought the ford and the dodge were of equal height (or very close to it)

I agree..

Yep.. your gonna have the brand loyalty bias wherever you go..

I dunno, I don't see the resemblance to the Tundra.. imo, the front end of the 09 Ram actually looks fairly similar to a Mustang.

Well, I'm gonna have to diagree on the interior differences.. I think the layout/console was much more ergonomic and stylish on the F-150.. and the F-150 has nicer shifter.. I dunno what to say about having too many buttons, wouldn't that be a plus?
4. Someone also mentioned the front end sagging on the Dodge, but I thought the ford and the dodge were of equal height (or very close to it)
I'm going to assume they meant the "droopy" grill.. I think the Rams front end actually looks more aggressive in comparison to the 09 F-150s..
I agree..

I agree.. it's your money.. and there definately seem to be better discounts on the Ram at the moment.. In south Texas, Rams are being discounted nearly $15k in comparison to around $12k for F-150s.. take the F-150 out for a spin, you might be convinced to choose the latter.. in the end, it's ultimately up to you..
All things considered.. If I had to choose between the two, I'd still prolly take the F-150 over the Ram.. I'd have to make a few minor cosmetic changes on the exterior.. but in the end, I'd rather drive away with the Ford..

I think people mean they both have that bland boring look about them. They both just look droppy and sad and dont look modern

Again as you may have seen for some reason some people find the ram interior better? Worst materials, worse build, strange layout, Stupid looking small nav screen lost in the middle of the stupidly over sized dash and center console, pre 1990 air vents, Uncomfy seats and so on. The ford interior feels better built, looks in proportion and is a lot nicer to sit in for any lenght of time. Dont get me start on all the cheap plastic in the Laramie.
4. Someone also mentioned the front end sagging on the Dodge, but I thought the ford and the dodge were of equal height (or very close to it)Again i think they mean the overal look of the rams front end. I looks like a sad mouth and boring looking. It aint got the in ya face look like the 09 f150's have.

The heated steering wheel doesn't do a thing for me.
But, again, if it was just for looks and sheer power, I'd buy the ram. And again, the ride was as nice as could be...so what if I'm losing 2000 lb towing/hauling capacity...I'm not into towing boats or trailers....4X4 for the winter months, and 4X4 for the slight off roading that I do.
Well, well see how the 09 fords fare when I test drive one this Saturday.
(at least I'm not considering a Chev!)

If you do a search you will find that in the same size and configuration the ram and f150 are the same 0-60. This was debated a while ago. Again looks are subjective and everyone likes different stuff but dont expect the ram to be any quicker than the f150 or tow any better as they dont. They are basicly the same performance. But if you want a truck that will last, be safe(Ram done very bad in crash tests compaired to the f150), better transmission, better build quality and components, Gadgets galore like sync, tailgate step, Trailer sway control, capless filling, Power deploy running boards(platinum only) side steps and so on then you would be silly not to get the f150 in my eyes. But if you really want the very slight better ride and heated wheel then i would go for the ram.
This thread caught my interest, since I strayed this way ( i'll need to change my sig ) and based on experience. Joined the Dodge forum but I check back on this forum once in a while for the 6.2L engine updates and may still return to Ford for the next truck if they put the 6.2L in an FX4, but for me, the 09 Ram Sport w/ 390 hp 407 tq, 392 LS rear and factory stainless catback duals won hands down. Ya, I'm one who wants more power from my daily driver. Ford's pathetic ECC tuning on the 5.4 made me look at all the competition for my 09 truck purchase. The power and smooth drive on road and my limited off road with the new Ram tops the 09 F150.
Got to see em side by side at the dealer, New Holland Auto Group in PA and never looked back. I even thought the F150 Platinum was rather puney and wimpy looking next to the Ram. For a former 3x F150 daily driver owner ( all loaded Lariat/FX4's with 5.4L and 3.73LS rear ) I thought Dodge did a better job with the 09 Ram. F150 is certainly my #2 choice in trucks , though the Ram is a bigger beefer beast, inside and out.
I drove em both back to back, even had an 09 FX4 for the afternoon while our Edge was getting the PTU repaired again, and you guys that say the power is close and quote whatever article you read have no clue what so ever. Drive a Ram Sport before you post on the power, I'll say it again, you have no clue.
we will now return back to the regularly scheduled competition bashing..

Re: Front end appearance's.
When you look at the front ends of the different pickups, you will notice a very basic style, and I think this is what everyone is referring to.
1. Titan - eh, front end with all those strange bits of chrome zigging and zagging everywhere... they still make them?...
2. Ram - the front of the truck droops downwards, starting at the windshield area and continuing to droop towards the pavement as you get closer to the front bumper. The strangely shaped fog lights add the worst touch to the already-sagging front end - they give the ram a sad-frown mouth look when facing directly towards it.
3. Tundra - the massive chrome piece has a very distinct, droopy look to it. Again, as if the vehicle is sagging a bit towards the ground in the front end area. This, like the Ram, gives the appearance of a not-so-tough look.
4. F-150 - the new grille's are big, chrome, and high. Very in-your-face, tough truck, stand up and take notice type of look. Would seem to be the most un-aerodynamic of the bunch, but actually is the most aerodynamic of them all. Strange how this comes to be the case, but a very aggresive, high-stance look.
5. Silverado - rather crappy, small and boring front end. Bleh.
6. GMC - nice looking front end. Square stance, straight-up grille and front end area, good look for a truck that's supposed to be all about toughness. Nice front end, closest to the F-150 in that area.
EDIT: I kept this piece to only the very basic shape of the front ends, not getting into specifics of exact curves/lines/panel shapes/etc. etc. Kept to the very basics of: "If you put a ruler across the front end, does it stay straight to the front grille, giving it a high-up, aggressive stance? Or with the ruler lying flat starting at the windshield, does the front begin to sag as it works towards the front bumper, giving the truck a sad, droopy look?

Interior felt like a cheap copy of the F150's interior.
Seats were no where near as nice and nor was the leather
Layout of dash and console felt too large and you felt tucked into the side of the door
Materials used inside the cab. Well what can i say. The dodge is full of plastic and soft touch plastic. As we all know this stuff don't wear well and I would rather have real alloy and better looking wood trim all day long. If you like plastic then the Dodge is up there with the Toyota for the amount used.
Ride was nice but to be honest didn't feel like a car and still felt like a truck. Also didn't fell as settled on the road as the f150. Felt a lot like our durango.
Gear box was better than the durango but still nothing like the f150's 6 speed. All i can say is smooth as a whistler.
Performance. Yeah it felt quick but it has quite a few thousand miles on it and now my truck fells like that did after i have done 3600miles. (check all the tests and reviews and they all show the same figures) I even guess the f150 would be faster with e85 but i ain't seen no tests for that.
Now we had a problem where i couldn't get it into gear for about 10+ mins. The dam thing was brand new and it already started to show problems.
Also it ain't as quite as the f150 inside. Even though it rides that bit smoother road noise is def louder than the f150.
Lets not even get started about the quality of the build, components, towing, AV setup and safety and features. We could go on all day about how much better the Ford is and thats one reason they ain't had to crash the price of the f150. Because of low new prices on Rams their brand image has decreased so much that second hand values have also crashed.
But reviews will show all this and thats why 95% of reviews vote the F150 the better truck.

As an owner of a new 09 Lariat, I have to admit that all the tests I have seen have the new Ram being faster. With that being said I didn't even test drive one because I also own an 04 Durango Limited. The Hemi's nice, the rest of the truck is a POS. I will never buy Dodge again.
Just looked in my March Car and Driver, it tested a 5.3 Chevy (3.42), Dodge w/ Hemi (3.55), and KR 150 (3.31); all Crew cab 4X4.
Chevy 5,540 lbs 0-60 7.6 1/4 mile 16.0
Dodge 5,840 lbs 0-60 7.4 1/4 mile 15.5
Ford 5,880 0-60 7.9 1/4 mile 16.2
Pretty Damn close.
