couldn't wait 2 years, drove home a Platinum tonight!
well, I kept saying that I was waiting for the 2011 model new engines. But that is a long time away, and I wasn't really waiting for higher HP, but was hoping for better MPG's. I do 99% city driving with a short 3.5 mile commute, so I don't think the new engines will help me gain that much MPG's anyways since the motor finally warms up by the time I get to work.
So I worked out a great deal on a white-sand Platinum, black interior with Sienna Brown leather, and the only options include Navigation w/Sony system, moonroof, and 3.55 limited-slip. I would have liked the tailgate step but I'm not in and out of my bed that much anyways. This truck was on the dealer's lot, same dealer I bought from in 04. They also had a black Platinum with the exact same options.
The price came to about $6900 off sticker which included $4250 in rebates. The best part of the deal is that they gave me $16,350 for my trade-in! (04 FX4 Screw, 34k miles, mint condition inside/out). I was only expecting $10k to $12k at the most for the trade-in. Well, you know how dealers can play with the numbers (either take more off the selling price or give you more for your trade). Either way, I think it worked out great! I put some money down and they were able to get me 4.9% @60 months from a local bank to finance the rest.
Some planned accessories:
Ford bedliner - dealer threw in for free
Husky mud guards - on order, I might have them painted to match
Bakflip HD folding tonneau cover - on order
Weathertech Floorliner front/rear mat set - waiting for them to make the rear mat, they said about 8 more weeks
Tint - maybe?
Alarm/remote start 2-way system - maybe by next winter even though I park in a garage
BFG A/T KO LT285/55/20 tires - I snagged these cheap brand new from my local craigslist last year, so I'll get some extra rims and use them for winter only
Leftover 04 parts - 15" billet antenna and silver front turn signal bulbs to get rid of fried egg look in headlights
I can post some driving impressions later this week, meanwhile, here are a couple of pics!

Great looking truck and congrats on the new ride, like you i had a 04 FX4 with 38,000km on it totally mint with mods, and i said i was going to wait as well for the new engine for the same reasons as you, now i work for a Ford dealer and once we started getting the 09's in and we were doing pdi's on them and i was seeing them every day, i lasted until dec 3rd they gave me 15000k for my 04 and my dealer principle handle my deal personaly which got me a lot off the truck with great interest rate.
Drove home a fully loaded black 09 FX4 a week later. and i have loved the truck each and every day.
enjoy the new ride.

I remember back when Ford came out with the 2005 Mustang...the GT's were in hot demand and Ford was slow to respond as they had figured they would be selling many more V6's...but it wasn't the case...at least for the 1st year of the new bodystyle.
