King Ranch Pics from Dealership
Bizarre... can't get Lariat with chrome handles, but an XLT you can? And no two-tone on a King Ranch yet you are forced to get a Platinum in bland monotone? I see Ford is still making these strange decisions for us and making us live with them. They always do this, not just on the refresh, they did it in '97, in '04, etc. Always some odd thing here or there. Heck, can't even get a Platinum with remote start. Boy oh boy, time to listen to the consumers, FMC my boy.
I'd love to see inside Fords head...
1) Why the chrome handles on the XLT Chrome, but not the Lariat?
2) Why no paint color unique to the King Ranch anymore?
3) Why no paint color unique to the Platinum?
4) Why no lower accent two-tone with black accents like the Superduty?
4) Why no lower accent two-tone with silver accents on Lariat like the Superduty?
5) Why no lower chrome panels on Platinum like the Lincoln?
6) Why painted bumpers with two-tone? All they do is chip an look crappy.
7) Why not just make chrome mirrors an option?
8) Why not offer an LT tire option with the 20" wheels?
9) Why no 8 foot bed on a Supercrew?
Just a few questions...

Also, opinions are always subjective. It's pretty expensive for them to 'custom build' every truck coming down the line (ie: this lariat gets chrome handles, the next one doesn't).
Lastly, the KR is only available in two-tone.
While I agree it'd be nice to have already fully customized the truck as it's rolling off of the Rouge floor, everyone will have their own qwirk. One guy may want a monotone KR whereas the next guy wants a two-tone with purple grab handles and a pink-poka-dotted tonneau... Just can't please everyone; that's where the aftermarket parts folks (or even OEM parts) come in to play.

Dear Ford,
If you are listening
Please offer stone or grey interior in the Lariat, and I will buy one.
or
Please offer bright red in the Platinum series, and I will buy one.
or
Please let me do a very special order to get one of these two things, and I will buy one.
I've waited two years to make this purchase knowing this was going to be a great truck. I was caught off gaurd and suprised when I found out you did not offer the popular stone/grey interior in the Lariat.
I do not want to wait another year to make my purchase. I hope you will reconsider as I am hopeing to purchase a truck ASAP.
Thanks
Jeff

I paid 40k for my 2004 Lariat 4x4 SuperCrew. Fully loaded with every option available at the time I ordered) except for that stupid overhead rear entertainment system that I would never even see in the back seat area).Otherwise I had it ordered with every single other option available. The price also included the dealer-installed accessories too, such as bug shield, window shields, bedliner, remote start, rubber floor mats, splash guards front & rear, etc. Not sure how that compares to a similarly equipped 2009 refresh, but if it helps anyone on here to haggle a better price I'm glad to share the info.
My 1997 XLT 4x4 SuperCab Styleside with all options for an XLT, was 28k.
My 1998 Lariat 4x4 SuperCab Flareside with every possible option available (except tow package) was 32k.
For some reason every time I buy the new model there is always 1 option I just have zero interest in. I figure if I'm spending a crapload of money, why not get what I want. That's why I traded my 97 for a 98, cause if you're going to be making vehicle payments for many years, why not make them a little higher but get everything you want, then you have no regrets as you pay that horrible bill month after month after month after year after year after year... egads. That's why I paid my 04 off after just a year and a half or so.
From now on I'm just buying outright. Never again will I make someone else rich off of me paying interest to them. I think that's part of the reason I'm so let down about the 2009's, they are just way too similiar to what I'm already driving and love, for me to go waste money on one even though I could walk in and pay off a Platinum today. At least if I didn't have the money I could say to myself oh well can't afford one so forget it. It's the fact I could buy one today and own it but just couldn't live with myself trying to convince myself it was an all-new model when every part of my being tells me it's so obviously not, just a major refresh.
Anyways, if any of that info helps anyone here to haggle a better price for their truck if they need one right now in this economic climate and all, I'm glad to provide the info.
(and please just buy outright, don't make someone else money from you being in debt, just makes zero sense from the buyer's perspective)

(and please just buy outright, don't make someone else money from you being in debt, just makes zero sense from the buyer's perspective)Hi Comet, while I certainly respect your opinion, is it not better to finance a vehicle (for let's say 3.9, 2.9 or even 0 %) and put the money in a CD that is going to return you more than that? I agree with you on paying people to use their money, but if the bank is going to pay me more to use mine than I am paying to use "theirs" (FoMoCredit in this case) than I will make that deal and laugh "all the way to the bank". No pun intended.
