2009 Platinum $70K?! (Canadian) Plus more pics

(this is "A week with a 2009 F-150" Part II)

I went back up to the 2009 Platinum up by 18 green and they had it open. I was able to sit in it, and basically look around, open stuff, fold seats, etc. Nobody else was there so I had the truck to myself. Ah, a moment of zen.

I asked the two young people there about it and they seemed pretty knowledgeable. No more or less than probably most of us who've been following the truck. I did ask them how much this truck would cost. He answered, "As it sits here, about $70,000" That is Canadian price. I asked how much in the US, he said about the same, maybe a little less. He and the girl with him threw out a guess of $68,000. Wow that's high. I don't see a lot of people buying Platinums at that price. I thought $50,000 was high.

Edit: They moved the AMP under the smaller rear seat. So when the bigger rear seat folds up, it's almost totally flat. There's also a recessed storage area under the larger seat. But you could fit a LOT of stuff on that floor. You could probably sit a large suitcase flat. I took pics of all this, see a few posts down. Also the amp says SONY 700W. Also, the sun visors slide out.

The leather seats were very silky soft. Felt very good.

Inside the center console. There's a removable tray and a 12volt inside.

3 buttons: "Tilt", "Slide", and one for the power rear window.

On the underside of the lid you can see some sort of holder, the larger one closer to the driver. I also have one on my 2004, what is it suppose to be used for? I have not found anything that fits in it.

on the 04's, it holds a small box of Kleenex tissues. Search the 04 forum and you'll see. I remember buying the small box of tissues in Walmart near the checkout lanes.

So are they going to let you drive this thing or just take pictures of it?

We're all ANXIOUSLY awaiting to hear how the new truck drives.

If Ford were smart, they would put a Lincoln badge on that thing. They might sell more than as a Ford. It's just like totally loading up an Expy - might as well buy a Navigator.

They tried that twice and it didn't work either time.

No way that truck costs 70 grand.

I agree they can't price this thing at $70,000. Of course that is Canadian. Even though the dollar is about 1:1 with loonies the prices in Canada are a bit higher. I priced a KR at Ford Canada and compared it to the same spec'd KR at Ford USA. The KR MSRP in Canada was $40,649 and US was $37,275. So the US was about 92% of the price. If the Platinum in Canada is $70,000 that would put the US version at about $64,190 if the price difference held true. Of course I only priced the KR model. You could probably take one of these home in the mid 50K range after rebates/incentives.

For $70k, it better have more than just fancy interior and 310 to 320 hp. Hell, you can get a GMC Denali with a 403hp 6.2L engine for about $45k.
