Someone asked if the EcoBoost would be good for a truck. This is the answer given on another forum...

"Ford will be offering their own diesel in the F150 in 2009 , 4.4 liters , 320HP . but I think that the 3.5 EcoBoost will work fine in the F150 , the 3.5 Duratech is basically the same as the 3.0 Duratech used in countless Taurus's. I have seen many Taurus taxis with over 400,000 miles on them, and they have never had any problems, never had the heads off. I think the use in a taxi ,driven hard by different drivers is is tougher test than in a pickup, and Ford, when they use one of their car engines in a truck, beef up many of the internal components, so I believe that the 3.5 Ecoboost will make long lasting powerful and econonomical engine for use in the F150 and other Ford trucks."

Also, Ford suggested in another article that the EcoBoost would have superior performance for towing like a diesel.

The 3.5 is not basically the same as the 3.0. It is a whole new engine. Sure, they are both DOHC V6's with the Duratech name, but that is about all they have in common. The 3.5 was a ground-up redesign from what I understand.

I'm watching T.V. today and I saw a commercial for the Ford edge with the Ecoboost. They are talking about how green it is and how as you guys said makes a V6 perform like a v8.

I saw this commerical twice, and they are talking about the edge. FUNNY THING- in small writing it says ecoboost will be availible in some models in 2010. So basicaly I get to watch a GREEN COMMERCIAL for a car that won't actualy be grean until 2010. I say green because at the end it says something like "this is ford being green".

Its 2 years away!! You can't buy the car so why are you advertising it. In 2 years they are also supposed to have a hybrid version of the Edge out, why not advertise that. Why not advertise the 6.2L boss ford F150?

Remember I said the commerical is for the Ford Edge (or Focus) doesn't mention the Lincoln just the edge. So even though ecoboost may be availible in other vehicles the commericial is talking about the edge.
