Not from what we've heard... but they tend not to talk about the stuff people don't want.

But I've got a feeling they got rid of it... why? I dunno... they make stupid decisions.

No, there will not be a manual tranny at this time. The demand is not enough to warrant the expense to design and build them.

It wasn't a stupid decision based on the numbers sold. Considering that the stick was only available with the V6, I believe that's what kept the sales low. There aren't too many people that want a V6 in a full size truck. If Ford had made the manual available behind the V8 engines they would have seen more people selecting that option.

Yeah... a car-like heavy duty 5 or 6 speed tranny in the 5.4l v8 and 4.6l v8 options would sell like hotcakes. If it was a weighted short-throw, I bet you could shift faster than the automatic, which would make it a ultra sick tow vehicle and combined with a much better 0-60 mph.

Automatic only, 4 speed, with a 6 speed optional. Base engine is now a 4.6 2V V8. Gotta do Super Duty to get a stick.

If you want a stick in a 150, buy a 08, and you can only get it with a V6 4x2 XL, STX, or XLT regular cab. All Scabs, 4X4's, Screws, and luxury models are V8 automatic only.

I wouldn't put it past ford to do like they did in 04 and offer the 08 as a heritage in 2009 with a stick.

I LOVE MANUALS. and why do they still offer them in some cars and in the super duty and probably the ranger but not the 150. especially with the whole war for better mpg.

A good automatic gets better mileage than a stick when it's run for EPA testing. That's what matters, not real world mileage. It's also harder to get a stick to pass tight emissions standards.

I agree and somewhat disagree. I know that well designed automatics can get equal or better mpg standards than a stickshift...

However, if people want that smooth shift, the mpg will not be there. The faster the shifts are, the harsher the ride is and no one wants that. The 6 speed doesn't have enough gears to even accomplish a smooth shift at ultra highspeed shift factors.

The only other way around it is a CVT. But even those have lots of parasitic losses.

Any way you slice it, even if they improve the current automatics... they are still far off what a good standard shift tranny could result. The biggest draw back to the faster shifts are the line pressures and the high pressures... it just puts so much stress on everything.

Then again, how reliable will these new trannys be? Only time will tell.

I'm still up and down on manuals vs automatics. I don't rate Ford's automatics, less than manuals any much credit. They all suck. Dodge is even worse, except the NVG series, which are all manuals. GM has some good automatic trannies though... and don't forget the Allison.

So, yes, there are *some* automatics I would buy... but most of them just flat out suck. Even with a tuner... they still suck.

The ford's automatics are some of the best in the business... Where do you get they suck?

I'll take an auto over a stick about 90% of the time.

First by past experiences.

Secondly, by tons of research.

But to get to the nitty gritty... I personally, from what I've researched, it's either:

1. Torque converters - 30%
2. Clutch Packs -50%
3. Line Pressure Pumps - 10%
4. Other 10%

I mean this is approximate... but that's from what I've encountered over the past few years just with Ford's automatics.

Well I have to disagree I have about 500K on 5 different ford automatics and have never done anything to them except change filter and fluid, of course I don't drag race with them either, think the new 6spd. will be just fine
