unusual rant from me, hey nothing else to do, no new '09 info.

Auto manufacturers are always making their vehicles quieter, not the reverse. They are even testing a new siren for law enforcement called The Rumbler, that actually "rumbles" the seats in the vehicles in the path of the oncoming emergency vehicle because many vehicles nowadays cannot hear the siren tones from outside. Why would you want a loder vehicle or engine noise or exhaust noise? To try and impress others? Personally I always think "how sad" when I hear a vehicle go past me with a crazy sound system thumping to break eardrums or loud exhaust revving along trying to be like, "hey look at me aren't I cool?!". Seems to me like some people need to buy a vehicle that impresses the correct person, aka the person buying the vehicle. Who the heck cares what anyone else thinks, why try and impress anyone else at all? Take care of #1, no one else will. Like someone else said when they first unveiled the 2009's, "No one else really cares what you drive." when some people said they couldn't afford a new vehicle so soon after the '04 introduction just a few short years ago. That really stuck with me. Does your life honestly change whether you are driving an '04 or an '09? Perhaps. But I can guarantee you that the guys driving past you in new chevy's and tundra's don't care whether you are driving an '04 or an '09. So no need to buy a new truck just to go into debt just to try and impress someone who's life isn't going to change whether you drive past them in an '04 or an '09. So buy the vehicle for you, not to impress anyone but yourself. Tiny bit off-topic, but honestly who are you trying to impress with a loud exhaust? Whenever I hear a loud one all I think is "Poor person, either they can't afford a good quiet vehicle or they are trying to impress me which they can't ever do because I bought the vehicle I own because THAT is what impresses me. Not picking on anyone in particular, to each his own. I just don't get wanting a louder vehicle. A lot of complaints I hear about the '04-'08 models pertain to squeeks, rattles, and strange engine noises. Believe me, I wish my '04 was quiet, instead of having the gosh-awful engine whine it has. Wish I could afford an '09.

If it performs as they claim who really cares what it sounds like. It really is not that important.

what is that supposed to sound like?

i start my truck up and i actually had my friend comment on how quiet my engine ran compared to his accord

my truck i very quiet, you hear the power steering over the engine!

there is a TT Ford GT out there(actually there are more) and it sounds like one of the meanest things out there

do you like the sound of modded SD PSD 6.4L when their turbos spool, they are American built

turbos have been in trucks longer than you think....

im not talking about the turbo. I LOVE the sound of a turbo or supercharger, especially in a PSD. Im talking about a turbo on a 6 cylinder. Im not talking about having the truck be loud just so people will look and all, but i do like they deep rumble that a V8 has. Thats all i was saying.

Imagine NASCAR but instead of big V8s they had turbo charged V6's. It would just be wrong.

CometFlash - Ever think that maybe those people with loud systems or loud exhaust actually LIKE the sound?

I have a mild subwoofer in my truck, and yeah, when I turn it up loud, others can hear it. But when I have the windows up and I'm listening to Mozart on my way home from work, there's nothing like imagining being in the room with the players.

My truck is excessively loud. Why? I like it. It sounds good to me, it gets my dog out from behind my truck so I don't run her over, and if someone or something happen to be behind me or around me when I don't know about, it sure is quick to make them move.

Like you said, to each his own. Not everybody wants a quiet car and a weak radio.

Ever heard a turbo V6? My play toy is a 300ZX. It's a 3.0L turbo and just sounds gnarly. Nothing like straight pipes and a little turbo whine to wake you up on the weekends.

I test drove a CX-7 with a i4 turbo... awesome little crossover... but don't expect it to whine like a diesel at the slightest touch of the pedal. They only whine when you really gun them... but does sound awesome.

A turbo on a 6 cylinder.......what a bad idea...wonder how Cummins has sold so many?

I know what I am talking about....I believe the poster I quoted said PSD in his post...so I said Cummins.....then I just made a point that a turbo on a 6 cylinder......hell a 4 cylinder does not an off the freaking wall idea, n ot a bad engine design.

Lets get back to gas then....they make 500-800HP and maybe more on 4 cylinder engines right now with turbos....the possibilities are endless if the bottom end will hold together.

Carry on with your testosterone induced duscussion.
