Well, I can see that it is similar, but still quite different. I think in person this truck will be beautiful. We'll see. I am driving up to the Detroit Auto Show saturday, so if there are any picture requests, let me know.

The original poster has a great point though. I have seen this happen with multiple body changes of the Mustang, from Fox Body to SN93 to 1999 to 2005. EVERY single time the body changes, there are people who start talking smack about the new body style and how Ford made a huge mistake with the styling. Some of those people end up buying the new model, and others truly didn't like it and stick with the old body style. Others stick with the old body style because they can't afford to upgrade. One thing holds true...there were people who liked the F150 before you got here, and there will be people who like the F150 after you are gone. People will buy it and it will be a huge success for Ford. If you don't like it, who cares? It is what it is...so get over it. This is a Ford message board and most of the people here like Ford trucks. It just seems like too many people are quick to jump on the "I hate it" bandwagon.
I couldn't have said it better myself.

I actually enjoyed tg's post, and enjoyed kneeland's as well (and laughed when I read the above. Check out my crappy truck! thread's, hahaha that'd be great! All I could picture was the girl who's renting a room from me's Jetta parked next to my beautiful '04. What a POS that thing is!

Anyways, I agree with tg that money can certainly be spent on more necessary items, or items that appreciate in value (few they may be).

But I also agree that you need to enjoy the NOW as much as the possible future as well.

I save like crazy, and always concern myself over my retirement and would someday soon like to buy my own house. So I have a million reasons to keep saving, and the past couple years I've done great!

But... will I be happy NOT buying the '09 and driving around in my older '04 model once the '09's hit? Boy oh boy... I want one so bad. I never spend money on anything. Is this a case of enjoying the now? It may very well be. Really my biggest concern is when Ford will redo the truck again. If this is just a stopgap it could be a shorter time frame than previous models, and it makes me wonder if I should hold off until the next redesign.

So yeah, I enjoy both your posts, and you both raised very good points that I've been wrestling with since the unveiling, and probably will right up until july/August rolls around. What to do, what to do.

I'd love to have Scott's skills when seeing what they'll give me for my '04 and what they'll sell me an '09 for if I do decide to go that route.

Deferring your life for retirement is an old way of thinking. If you want the new truck, go get it. There is no reason to wait for the next remodel. You can have it all - the truck of dreams, retirement, $$$, etc. Take it to the next level.
