2008 F150 FX4 Refresh

To sum it all up $14,735. Re-built Monster Transmission transmission, re-manufactured Monster Transmission engine, new Gibson shorty headers, new Magnaflow catalytic converters, all new sensors from the front of the engine to the back of the transmission from FordPartsGiant, re-built axles, new transmission cooler and radiator, front bumper refresh, new headlights, new radio head unit, and new pin stripes. Had one wrinkle on cylinder 6 but turned out to be a cracked spark plug. If you factor in the new tools, I'm probably at $15,500. Trucks about 200 mi past the 500 mi oil change with no problems. On the upside, way-way cheaper than a new truck with comparable amenities. You need an infinite amount of patience in the context that there are more bolts that have special hacks for removal than do not.

If the body is good, the mechanical stuff can always be repaired. Looks good. Used and new trucks are going for insane prices so fixing up yours is a great idea.

Even if the body is bad, there are plenty of parts and folks willing to work.

I got a guy down a couple streets from me that "refreshed" the body on my '07 F150 for a great deal. Took care of rust problems, and door dings, scratches, etc.

I wish I had a knack for body work like I do with mechanical repairs. Body work is the only thing I'm just not good at...
