Don't use SP515, it's been replaced with SP547.

The high temp nickel antiseize goes on the ground barrel (between the tip and the seat), not just the threads. Torque spec is 25 ft/lb.

While the heads are off, clean out the plug holes thoroughly - remove all carbon and run something down them to smooth them out.

The SP 515s are still a 2 piece design I noticed. I’ll get the 547s! Thanks for the heads up!

The 547's are still 2 piece, but they are the latest "improvement".

Well I had her all back together yesterday, until I saw the trans dipstick....seems this dipstick left that one out! So a lot of stuff had to come off to get it back in. We are having CRAP weather in Tampa today so she gets buttoned up tomorrow.

PatMan....I feel your pain.

I noticed something really odd, my combustion chambers on the drivers side were beautiful! Passenger side had much more carbon build up. I can’t come up with ANY reasonable explanation for this so I ordered 2 new VCT Solenoids before buttoning her up. My top end is now pretty much new! Throttle body was much dirtier than I expected as well.

Ok everyone, thank you for the help! The truck is all wrapped up and I’m amazed how it sounds! I can hear the injectors even when it’s idling for 20 minutes! It’s simply incredible! The computer won’t give me an accurate reading for gas mileage yet and I got a generic P1000 code when I romped on it but she runs amazing! Now I just have to put some miles on her!

Again, thanks everyone. With the SP-547 plugs and the amazon kit (which I’m surprised didn’t come with VCT Solenoids) my top end and most wearable items are now replaced. She’s a new truck to me now. I notice a power difference at low RPMs already and that’s just driving normally.

Now I will replace the front rotors because of a bad wheel bearing, put new pads on all 4 corners and hopefully she’s good for another 14 years!!

The P1000 will clear when all monitored sensors achieve readiness. This can take some time.
