No good, very bad day!

second set of spark plugs on a 5.4 3v i've attempted. Broke #4 off in the head trying to do it by hand.

All 6 plugs 1,2,3,5,6,7 were done with my Makita impact and came out clean. #8 was done by hand and also came out clean.

Here's where it gets worse tho:
Used the Lisle extractor tool, pushed the porcelain down in the metal tip. Tried pulling over 4 or 5 times with the puller tool, and every time the tool would hold, slip and come out with a thin layer of metal chewed off of it. Basically now i've got nothing left internally in the metal sleeve to grab onto with the tool. Which means the head gets to come off Monday morning.

Wish me luck

This problem is rediculous with these 3v's. David called me saying this will be his last ford he will own, this coming from a guy thats always had a f150..Just wanted to say thanks Patrick for treating my brother in law right! Like he said alot of people would have told him sorry your sol and left him at the ford house.. He is very glad he got someone like you to do this job.

Good Luck

I treat all my customers like family. Its how I would want to be treated. Its just plain ol' simple customer service 101.

Hopefully it goes well. I told him im concerned about the exhaust studs breaking, but I think we might just take the collector off, and leave the manifold attached to the head.

That's no bueno Carlos.

At least it's you doing the work. He doesn't have to worry about another mechanic leaving him high & dry because you'll make it right and see it through to the end. I wish all mechanics had your standards.

Hey -- it's got to be better than that Land Rover you posted awhile back that you tore apart with about a million parts laying all over the shop floor.....

I did not expect it to be so tough to hammer out the old sleeve, i broke a punch, and was hammering for 2 hours before the extractor finally pulled it the rest of the way through.
approx 15hrs of wrenching start to finish and she lives to see another day

Looks like the combustion chambers are pretty nasty. That had hinder the plug removal.
