2007 F150 XL, 4.2 V6, 138K Miles

Last week I was going to detail the interior of my truck. I always start on the passengers side dash. I noticed a crack in the dash from the corner of the dash storage box to the defrost vent.
Has anyone else received a crack in the same spot, close to it, or anywhere else on the dash?

 

That really sucks! I used to get cracks and deformed dashes, but not since I started using DashMats and/or windshield sunshades. I'm pretty sure the crack is caused by the heat of the sun, when the vehicle is parked, and the mats or shades will prevent that from happening.

Don't know of any way you can "fix" it, but a DashMat will cover it up.

I bought the truck brand new in Tampa, FL. with only 6 miles on it. I moved back to La. in 2012. In both states, the truck has been parked outside in the sun, its whole truck life. Why now does it decide to crack? LOL!
I pushed down on the higher side of the crack and it lines up perfect with the other side. You can still see a line, but, if I can find some kind of glue that dries almost clear I will glue it. It will have to crack some more before I buy a dash mat.

 

You might try SuperGlue gel formula. It will glue plastics and porous materials. I'd suggest Loctite Super Gel Control. It has a needle application tip and it's fairly controllable to use. You might be able to apply the glue inside the crack and then push the edges together.

Unfortunately, it might make a messy repair too. I don't know how you could test it properly beforehand.
