Climate control degrees range?

Hi,

I can't seem to find an answer anywhere on this so I'll ask here. I have a 2007 XLT Screw with the dial temp control. I am wondering if anyone knows what the temp range is for the dial. When the dial is all the way hot what temp is it supposed to be at? Same for the dial being 3/4, half way, etc. I can never seem to find a comfortable setting. It's either too hot or blowing cold.

Did you look in the owner's manual?

Well the problem is that it's not climate control and it is either too hot or too cold, like you said. One of my personal requirements when upgrading from the XLT was to have climate control...I found the truck and love it.

I agree. I had dual climate control in my Trailblazer and I loved it. But I need a truck now and its back to the dial. This morning while I was driving I was just curious as to what the temp dial is programmed to.

That's what I'm saying...it's not programmed to anything. It blends in that amount of heat until the end of time. Say it's 80 deg's out and you have the dial half way. You'll keep getting that set amount even though the cabin will rise to 90 or beyond. It has no thermostatic control over temperature. I used to get the amount of heat that I wanted, then crack open windows to regulate temperature. It's either that or keep fiddling with the heat and fan dials. It's the same way with the AC. If you turn the AC on, the compressor will stay on, varying the dial will only blend in warm air with the AC. Hope that helps...

I get that but still not really the answer I was looking for. Maybe I'll have to go page five Google deep to get what I'm looking for. I'm just going to guess that if I crank the dial all the way hot that it will start blowing at 100°. I'll guess that the dial in the middle blows around 75°.

The dial controls a blend door. There is no actual heated coolant control on these trucks. So once the engine is up to temp @ 195 deg's, that is the maximum amount of heat that could be output. That heat is mixed with ambient air, so the same dial position will not result in the same temperature of heat coming out. It depends on outside temperature and engine temperature. Sorry, that's the best I can do...

That actually does work for me. That makes sense. I have owned a handful of GMC and Chevy trucks. This is my first Ford. I remember in my Chevys that the manual actually had a temp reading for the dial so I was wondering what Ford had set. I do like this truck but the next one I get will for sure have a climate control system. I really miss that.
Thanks for the responses.

It'll blow 75 degrees when the air temperature exits the heater / ac box at 75 degrees. The hotter the air is going in, the hotter it will be coming out. The cooler it is going in, the cooler it will be coming out. The box is not measuring air temp in your cab, it's not adjusting to anything. In the middle on a cold day may be too cold just like the same setting will be too hot on a hot day.

It's like most kitchen faucets, you adjust cold versus hot to get what you want.

Download an owner's manual. It's free.
