Hello to all. New to the forum. Huge wealth of knowledge here. My question is, I know this question is probably beat to death, But I have a little confusion on deciphering my Trans Code. It shows trans code A. All this time I thought I had a 4R70W but isn't that the code for the 4R75? The VIN is 1FTRX02W16KCxxxxx. WB-145, R-5, AXLE-19, TR-A. 3rd gear is gone and looking to fix it. I bought the truck brand new and love it. Buddy has a 4R70W out of a 97 that has been rebuilt I can get for some bartering if it would work. Otherwise looking at Full rebuild, Yall's thoughts? Any info is always appreciated

 

It doesn't matter whether you have a 4R70W, 4R70E, 4R75W, or 4R75E. A 1997 4R70W isn't readily compatible due to electronic differences.

Not sure, but I believe an "A" code is 4R70E.
