Ratchet inside fender

OK, so I feel stupid. While replacing my wiper linkage, I managed to drop my 1/4 inch ratchet, with 8mm deep socket, down the cowl and inside the left fender. I haven't been able to get it with telescoping magnet or my flexible grabber. Does anyone know if there is any way to access inside the fender from the bottom?

I know the feeling... I dropped a brand new Snap-on 12mm with extension in my other truck in a hard to get at crevice a couple months ago. Took me about an hour to get at it. If it was a cheap one, it could've stayed there.

I think you have to take the fender off and reach in and grab it. I know exactly where you are referring to.

My tools aren't expensive (Craftsman), I'm just concerned about rattles & rust if I leave it there.

You certainly don't want to leave tools in vehicles... especially if it decides to come loose down the highway. A ratchet and a deep socket can kill someone if it ricochets just right.

I still think the best bet is open the fender up enough to slide your arm or a least a magnet or the grabber.

Take off the fender liner and you can probably find it
