Mod suggestions 06 xlt HD

Hey guys need some advice I'm sure there's threads but I'm not the best at navigating. I want to replace my stock wheels and do either 2.5in level or 4 in maybe. Open to suggestions, the only problem is I have the 7-lug had payload package. I see tirerack.com has the ultras

Check mine out, I have the same one, but in green.

Fuel and MHT make 7 lug wheels also, and the ford 2012+ ones are pretty nice also.

Front coilovers

I was debating getting a pair of bilstein front coilovers since I want it leveled and it has a good rear suspension because it's the heavy duty payload . Any feedback ?

If you're going to replace just shocks, I would do Bilstein 5100s all around. If you want to do coilovers, Fox makes a complete replacement for the front, but it's a lot more expensive.

The rear suspension has heavier leaf springs, but the same crappy shocks.

Shocks are never a waste on these trucks. The OEM shocks/struts aren't real good after too long. Rancho and Bilstein make great replacement shocks/struts.

Thinking about a 4' rough country lift. Would I be able to put 35s on stock rims or does that not really make sense. Also thinking about getting the frame repainted at zeibart

Check with rough country. A lot of times lifts require certain offsets.

4" would be nice, but a lot of guys jump to 6" since it's so easy. Call Rough Country and make sure they know you have the 8200lb package. fwiw, the 17" steel rims are only 7.5" wide, and it's not recommended to run 12.5" tires on them.

I would go for bilstein too, you can't go wrong. Ultras should give your truck a better look and instance.

You'd go with the blisteins over a 4' rough country lift? I like going up the mountain where I live to swim and chill , it's kind of rough so I think the 4 inch might be better. Any input is great. The price difference is like $500 which isn't bad.

I recall back in the day, '70s and '80s ..... there were shops where you could get wheels "widened" (or narrowed even) to suit your needs. They did so of a fixture set up to rotate the wheel as they cut, welded, etc. Was common. Adding an inch or inch and half should be doable?

The question is "offset" and "paint" afterwards?

You can still get that done. Or order a set of Fuel rims on fleabay for $1000.
I've also ran a set of bald 33x12.5s on my factory steelies with no issues.
